Hurricane Matthew Live Thread II
NOAA/NHC ^ | October 6 2016 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 10/06/2016 4:10:09 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

Unfortunately, Matthew looks to be doing a U-turn so it might be BACK here again by middle of next week.

The Zephyrhills PD and the Pasco school Superintendent announced all the schools in Pasco Cty will be closed tomorrow. We got storm warnings in Hernando as well.

I'm trying to follow your assertion that the eyewall was within 30 miles or so of either a) your location about ten miles inland from Ft. Lauderdale Beach, or b) 30 miles from Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

The eye of Hurricane Matthew is moving NW, and is very near Freeport Bahamas, which is about 94 miles from Ft. Lauderdale. We would have to assume that the eyewall is 60 miles across to achieve a 30 mile distance from Ft. Lauderdale. Is this correct?

I hope you can see why it is difficult to reconcile your assertion that the storm was only 30 miles from Ft. Lauderdale at 1530 ET, as described in the video you posted multiple times.

It was not predicted to be too bad in South Florida...glad to see that’s holding.

Okay, so the eyewall (western edge) is probably about 80 miles from Ft. Lauderdale beach which makes it about 90 miles from me. Still the wind is a lot less than I thought it would be earlier.

Actually I stated that I thought Ft. Lauderdale was about 50 miles from the eye wall so I was off by about 30 miles.

This is the time where a godly U.S. President would come before the American people and offer a prayer to God for the safety of our country . . . alas! we do not have a godly U.S. President.

It would also be an ideal time to beg God’s forgiveness for saying that Jerusalem does not belong to Israel.

But praying to Allah isn’t going to help a lick . . . Allah would love to turn the storm around and direct it straight toward Israel - if he were real, anyway.

The worst seems to have come and gone in Boca Raton. So far a total non-event here. But Ft. Pierce and north to Jacksonville will get very ugly.

Is that radar showing the concentric eyewall constricting? How long does an ERC take? How far into the ERC is this storm?

Sometimes storms can maintain concentric eyewalls for a prolonged period. I do know the bad news is the extent of hurricane-force winds probably extend out a lot further from the center now. And a wider windfield means higher surge.
