Germany and France announced plans Tuesday to share an air base and transport planes as part of a military shakeup in the wake of Britains vote to quit the European Union.
The two countries signed an agreement with a view to sharing C-130J Super Hercules military transport planes, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said in Paris.
His German counterpart Ursula von der Leyen, in Paris to sign the deal, told reporters both countries wanted to have the new arrangement in place by 2021.

A century ago, the two countries were bitter enemies.
Today, they’re pooling their military capabilities.
So you have two marginalized military groups....sharing marginalized weapons, ships or aircraft....to form? You can guess the answer.
It’s a political gesture involving military equipment. They have no intention of actually using their militaries.
They’ve had the EU military plans in place for decades, but “no intention of using” them? They aren’t Obama, as much as he acts like them.
The Bundeswehr is no marginal force itself, only being behind the USA in terms of overseas deployments. Neither is the Luftwaffe.

“...They have no intention of actually using their militaries.”
Yes, after letting THE ENEMY overrun their countries. What will the military do? Blow up the house next door??
The Bundeswehr deployed broomsticks a year or so ago. Didn’t have any machine guns for their tanks. Putin just destroyed 100 miles of European border. Murdered 10,000 Europeans. Invaded multiple European countries with his army while threatening nuclear war. And what did Germany and France do militarily? Nothing.
During WWII, The Germans made free use of all French facilities.
You expected them to act unilaterally when they were waiting on Obama and NATO, and unilateral action was not politically feasible at that time? Very interesting POV.
BTW, you recognize “European border” versus national borders?
The French pilots will have to remember to take their booster seats with them when they turn the planes over to the Germans.
Oh my, cats and dogs sleeping together, frenchie and Hans joining up.
This has to be the end times. What’s this world coming to?/S
Tell ‘em about the twinkie, OKSooner!
Today, theyre pooling their military capabilities.
Next time around, Germany gets to KEEP France! We're out of it.
Before everybody gets over excited, it might be noted that neither France or Germany currently fly any C-130J.
Basically France has offered to let Germany occasionally borrow a couple of the Four(4)only C-130J that will be delivered in a years time.
