He’s got cameras and screens inside that show him where he’s going.

Just think if ETA had 4 wheels, a little wider, with glass to see outside, ya think a 10 horsepower diesel could power it, and get huge mileage? like 500mpg or sometin’ like that?
run it on vegetable oil, it is carbon neutral...why not?
Two people are required to push start it. That doesn’t seem fair.
Is this one of the counties that was trying to secede from Nevada?
When you see efforts like this, you are seeing cutting edge technology. Everything is set for that speed record, weight, drag and airflow are tuned to the nth degree. As a usable machine, like a Formula One race car, this is not it! But the tech does translate down and that does make everyday things better.
A predecessor effort, 39+ years ago, was the first man-powered aircraft to fly a figure-eight course covering a measured mile (1.6 kilometers), the Gossamer Condor. At 70 lbs (31.75 kgs), it too was a marvel of applied technology and has led to a recognizable family of ultra-lightweight experimental aircraft.
While I may never break a HPV speed or altitude record, bicyclist and wheelchairs, just to name two areas will be happy to adapt these pioneering efforts, to the benefit of many!
Yep.
That’s over 50 times the power it’s designed to use. Assuming you didn’t strip out the drive. But that 10 Hp should get you up to about 300 MPH, good luck with that, wear a helmet.
It’s still enough to get a speeding ticket!
I believe they tested it going down hill on a rocky mountain road.
It looked like he was rolling downhill.
>> reaching 89.59 mph
Quite precise for an Eta.
” I was skiing pretty fast then, water skiing as fast as the boats would go”
You never “cracked the whip”? Our boat was good for about 50 MPH but if you turned sharp and the skier went wide you could hit 70+. I lost it once and the last thing I remember was hearing a “clunk”. Came to in the boat with a bloody ice filled rag being held to my forehead. I’d caught my ski in the head and cold cocked myself.
Wow! Daredevils get their own batons? Or is that his cane?
Either way, cool pic’! :-D
I never even heard what happened for the second attempt! I guess Eddie made it?
This is pretty much as fast as anyone is going to go unless there are some incredible weight savings by using some material that doesn't yet exist but even then it would likely be only incremental.
So, if you're interested in speed bikes, google Matt Weaver.

The rules would be that you get on or into the vehicle with no help and you move ONLY by your energy. It it has a top, no help putting it on. The vehicle should not be held by a person before it starts moving. Use a stand that's part of the bike or lean it against a wall. Also, no fair getting a push start. You shouldn't have to have two guys pushing. (Also, "bicycle" means two wheels on the ground only. Someone claimed a record on a tricycle.) You also can't ride behind another vehicle.
Yes, the gear ratio is so high, starting becomes difficult. So, design a transmission that makes it possible!
Here's another bike feat!
