In my opinion, it was not the hurricane itself that helped Obama. It was Chris Christie telling the nation what a great guy Obama is after the two of them strolled along the beach together a few days after Sandy hit.

Joe Bastardi tweeting that the hurricane will lose a lot of energy once it gets north of the Bahamas. It's October after all and the waters are a lot cooler.

Gonna be a monster even if it passe by Miami. Hugging the coast will push a lot of water ahead of it and the counterclockwise rotation will push that elevated water onto land - same thing happened with Katrina hugging the Gulf Coast. I'd rather get hit head on with a Cat 4 than have a Cat 2 or 3 drift along the coast (west to east or south to north) my way.

I'm praying for the folks along the eastern seaboard.

The Golden Isles here. I just ordered a generator .I hope it gets here in time. Went without power in the last storm for almost 20 hours. Close call on frig and freezer.
You folks appear to be further east than here so that is not so good.
kids in southeast NC are battening down. Time will tell.
