Some time at the Beach actually "On the Clock" taking care of a cable company.

Lucky you! And it looks like the weather was perfect while you were there. What a view you had too!

One thing nice about living in Raleigh was being only a couple of hours from the beach. If I had a few days off, it was off to the Outer Banks when I could swing it.

That was a side trip I took through Lake Lure area in NC. Those folks do not care about the outside world. I could never afford it but it was quite a drive. I envy their ability to live in such a wonderful place.

I do get that a couple of times. I stay on the Beach at the Hilton Resort at Nags Head, It is awesome!

Love Nags Head! That’s where I went but I can’t remember the name of the little motel I stayed at. Been too long ago. Heck, it may have been torn down to build a larger, high-rise motel by now.
It was an older place but clean and nice, and right on the beach. I went during the off-season when the costs were down and there weren’t a gazillion people. VERY relaxing.

In 1975 I stayed at the Colonial Inn. I was a bit of a punk and those waves kicked my ass.

Dang! You remember the name of the motel after all those years? I need whatever you take to keep the memory cells firing. LOL!

So you did a bit of surfing? I never tried it but enjoyed watching others do it. Never cared much for getting in the water, just enjoyed walking along or sitting on the beach.
Or going to Jockeys Ridge to watch people hang glide. That looked like fun but I was too chicken to try. :-)

Lake Lure’s not as expensive as you might think. You can occasionally find older lakefront 2 br cottages with a boathouse for under $300K, and well-kept 3/2 houses off the lake under $150K. The POA initiation can be an issue when buying though, runs into the thousands. Best to negotiate it being paid with purchase.
