Also Note: Gannett has been involved in a hostile takeover of Tribune which owns the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune which would fill in many of the gaps in the map.

Board of Directors are not hired. They are elected by the shareholders, usually they are a part of a good old boy/women network and their friends invite them in.
Donna Shalala left in 2011. She served on the board of directors of Gannett Company from 2001 to 2011, retiring because of age limits.
