Dear SoCal Pubbie,
(I hail, as being born six blocks up from the Queen Mary, and returning as an adult, between Victorville, San Bernardino, and Rialto.)
The year was 1972. The Vietnam Airwar was in full swing, B52s lifting off every 30 seconds, 24/7/365. Not only that, but we had ChiCom frogmen attempt a beach sortie to infiltrate and destroy some B52s on the pad.
I was too busy doing my jobs, both as assigned to my duty squadron, and the Security Police squadron walking the fence at night, to give you the ‘back homne’ details, but it happened, and I experienced it.
So by went on strike, you don’t mean the players walked out in a union action, correct?
