Viewers tuning in for the rowdy first presidential debate got their fair share of verbal sparring, but amidst the fireworks many appeared distracted by something else: Donald Trump's sniffle.
The Republican candidate sniffled repeatedly during Monday night's debate setting off social-media memes and sparking the hashtag #TrumpSniffle.
While Trump's opponent Hillary Clinton whose coughs made frequent fodder for Republicans did not mention his sniffles, former Democratic presidential candidate and DNC chairman Howard Dean did.
The former six-term Vermont governor took to Twitter not with a meme but with a message, suggesting that Trump's nasal troubles could be due to cocaine use.
There was no immediate response from the Trump campaign to the question Dean posed.
However, Trump told Fox News on Tuesday that there were "no sniffles" and that he didn't have a cold.
Trump
Doesn’t do alcohol or drugs, never did.
I hope Trump sues him for slander.
Isn’t the record pretty clear after 30 years that Trump doesn’t do drugs or alcohol?
Or did I miss something?
5.56mm
I have noticed before that Trump often sniffs when he is speaking.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned it before, particularly with all the focus on candidate health.
And no, I don’t think for a minute that Trump does coke.
Trump's microphone was sabotaged and somebody at NBC or the Clinton campaign put a substance in the strategy that caused Trump to have an allergic reaction.
How about both candidates submit to a urine test!
Someone commented last night that it seemed that Trump’s microphone was picking up all of the “noise” around, but Hillary’s was not. If Dean commented on it, then it was likely something that was done on purpose.
Trump should demand 100% equal podiums and microphones at the next debate, and they should flip a coin to let one candidate pick. Then Hillary can use her little step stool or whatever she needs, but won’t be guaranteed to have a better set-up, IMHO.
Libs can’t shake their drug obsession. Pure projection on Dean’s part
What Trump was doing was conscious measured breathing. He was deliberately keeping himself calm with a breathing technique. As Scott Adams pointed out, the Rats branded him as scary. Remember these are people who 1. Vote and 2. Literally need and use “safe spaces” filled with crayons and dolls. So Trump had to present himself as calmly as possible.
Hillary, on the other hand, came out as mocking, gloating and irritating as she could be (within her automated, catheterized drug dosage allowances, while listening to her earpiece and reading her notes of the questions), in order to try to trigger him into irritation.
She failed - and the Rats know it. Dean is just trying to succeed on the same tactic post-debate.
Bill and Hillary Clinton were coke fiends and probably still are.
A life time of drug and alcohol abuse may be responsible for both Bill and Hillary's health problems
Trump struck me as a cross between Al Gore’s sighing in 2000 (with the defective microphone making him sound like he had the sniffles) and Marco Rubio (as he kept drinking water for the first time).
The deck was stacked against him last night, as I feared, and I think he should listen to his friend Rudy Giuliani and skip the last two debates.
The next one is a town hall and I bet the questions will be screened so as to hurt him and help her.
Plus, I detest Chris Wallace, who will moderate the final showdown.
Didn't he write "An Idiots Guide To Being The Perfect Idiot"?
Or some such nonsense...
Howard Dean, a probable pedophile, wieghs in...
Oooooh - I died laughing. :)
ROTF!! That would go great with the deplorable basket I was gonna wear on Halloween ;)
Trump was probably taunting Hillary! with the water.
She didn't take a drink the entire time - probably for fear of coughing up a lung onstage... :)
He took a model alone into his house one time and gave her a swimsuit to change into.
Imagine the White House cocaine bills. Back in the day.
