Pence breaks with Trump, says humans affect climate change

Donald Trump’s running mate is breaking with the Republican nominee’s claim that climate change is not the result of human activity.

Vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said Tuesday “there’s no question’ that human activity affects both the climate and the environment. […]

Pence, appearing separately on CNN, said, “let’s follow the science,” but he warned against rushing into environmental restrictions that drive jobs out of the country and put Americans out of work. …

The UN is a communistic organization, made so by Alger Hiss. The only role they play is the advancement of Marx’s “revolution”. Their credibility is zero.

The ECVs have nothing to do with the UN. They are the variables used by climate scientists to accrue data and develop climate models.

The pseudocategory of “climate scientist” was invented by the UN’s IPCC. So the UN has everything to do with it.

100% correct. Saying “no effect” makes one look unreasonable to the average person. Showing that same average person the climate record of the last several million years, and pointing out that human’s effect doesn’t even show up, on that scale, is usually far more effective.

It’s also sometimes useful to note that the poorer the society, the more awfully it is affected by Mo’ Nature. It is wealthy societies that can afford to reduce pollution or better survive natural events.

Climate science is distinguished from the more general discipline of atmospheric science or meteorology by its emphasis on climate as opposed to weather. Climate science is the study of average conditions over some time period, whereas meteorology is the study of actual events. It has been said that "climate is what we expect, and weather is what we get".

Climate science is distinguished from climatology by practitioners in the field by the fact that climate science relies heavily on numerical models for the study of climate processes, whereas climatologists primarily use statistical methods to study climate. Climate scientists also use statistical methods to study the output of their numerical models and to compare these results with observations. The distinction is in the wide use of numerical models by climate scientists. These numerical models (in contrast to, say, statistical models or conceptual models) are based on the fundamental laws of physics and have essentially the same basic equations as models used by fluid engineers to study fluid motions in combustion chambers, flow around airplane bodies, and flow in pipes and ducts.

This does not dissuade support, at least on my part.

Sales of these respirators are becoming more common in Beijing. I recall how badly my lungs and eyes hurt on a SoCal summer day if I as out playing baseball. Because of the amazing advances in cleaning up cars, smog alerts come very seldom now. Car makers always argued about smog control devices. Unfortunately, they had to be dragged kicking and screaming to make the changes. I don’t want government involvement when the private sector can solve problems. But without some of the regs, catalytic converters may still not be on vehicles.

Everything in the Universe that is or has ever happened effects the climate. Mankind can’t measure the effects. Mankind can’t even measure the current state. The variation of molecular energy within an ice cube that allows it to sublimate in the freezer is a simple indication of the complexity of the system.

As far as that goes, it is more likely that nuclear proliferation will lead to a large scale climate change (never mind the direct effects!) than could humans’ every day activities.

OTOH, the Dust Bowl, Acid Rain, and the growth of the Sahara Desert are all cases which demonstrate that human activity can have far reaching effects.

Interestingly, the Dust Bowl is a case almost like some of the AWG’ers, where humans presume that the recent past of the environment / climate is the norm. We would do well to remember that, taken over a little longer time period, “Normal is Chicago under a mile of ice.”

Right you are, Jane Long.

Bunch of nervous Nellies on this thread. Chokers. Pence’s statement was merely a vague reference to man-made pollution. He’s not at all at odds with Trump in any notable way.

Pence was a brilliant choice for VP and solidified my confidence in Trump’s skill and judgment.

I think a volcano has more impact on the climate than manmade pollution. We have recovered from those. Still, we should consider all scientific facts and forge ahead.

For example, if Brazil decided to wipe out the Amazon rain forest by cutting down all the trees, the climate of the Earth would be affected just as the existence of the rain forest is impacting our climate now.

That could be true, but i don`t think it has ever been done so i believe it is more assumption than a known fact.

What was there before the rain forest? if it was something bad, how did the rain forest grow?

Too many assumptions for me to take serious, not to mention the lies the enviromentallists have been caught in.

Any way i will vote for Trump and Pence
