Lester Holt's actions at the first presidential debate were inexcusable. And also unsurprising.
The day when media lefties were patient enough to believe that the system would work without being this blatant are over. They've been open this election about rejecting even the illusion of objectivity.
The only question is why do Republicans continue to allow mainstream media figures to moderate presidential debates? Lester Holt decided to debate Trump. But you can increasingly expect this kind of behavior from any media figure below a certain age to whom the concept of journalism is a dead and incomprehensible notion. Or rather, to them it means that it's their duty to attack Republicans.
2012 should have buried this. And I don't know why we're still dealing with this in 2016.
A debate between two candidates, one Democrat and one Republican, is the only time that the GOP has unquestionable leverage to get its way by rejecting mainstream media moderators. There are still a handful of journalists working for the big news networks who could be trusted to be fair, but most of them are over 70. There's obviously no future in that. I can't think of a single media figure who has any remote credibility in this regard except maybe Tapper.
It's the right of Republicans to demand independent, professional moderators who can be trusted to do their job of asking questions and checking the time, instead of offering false fact checks and trying to debate the candidates. Lester Holt's antics should be the final nail in the coffin of the mainstream media moderator.
Trump was clearly on record opposing the Iraq war.
One of Holt’s questions was about his support! He never called out Hillary for her support, or asked her a single ‘gotcha’ question. Pathetic performance.
But Holt kept his job. Did as instructed. That’s for sure.
Screw the liberal MSM. Trump should skip the next two debates if their just gonna use it as an oppertunity to fawn over the b&$@#.

Seriously, I think a robot would be a good thing. Or questions projected on a screen. There is no need for a “moderator” in a true, fair debate. Ask the questions. Get the answers. 10 minutes (on a timer) of back-and-forth. Move on.
Hilly’s been riding Slick Willy’s coattails to get to where she is today .... last night, she had to ride Holt’s. She can’t stand on her own two feet (literally & figuratively). Last night, Trump was a lion ... roaring & courageous. Hillary was as unlikable as ever, if not more so, as she grinned and blinked her way through the debate, hiding behind Holt as he shot dart after deadly dart into a lion who would not go down.
I think Hillary brought up all she could against Trump. She fired all the arrows in her quiver (along with Lester) with all the libs cute talking points. They are now out there for Trump to dispute now on his campaign.Does she have any left? Let’s see she( rather they) brought up taxes, women, Iraq war, 1973 racial thing to name a few. Maybe we can get down to the real issues this country is having now?

The fact that this is the mud they were slinging says a LOT - she can’t debate the issues because she’s a proven liar and/or has conducted herself in a criminal manner on all of them. That Holt had to do most of the slinging says even more. I think she hurt herself badly last night by needing so much help .... and she DID need it .... her campaign tried to build the “liar” meme about Trump and was relentlessly goading Holt to “fact check” the week before the debate because they knew ILLary needed a stacked deck.
Way overdue to remove the msm from the debates. The debates are just another trap that favors democrats.

It’s time to get the mainstream media out of America. President Trump should pull all their press credentials and use the EPA, OSHA and every other government agency to drive them all out of business. If the Enemedia is no longer going to even pretend to have professional ethics, then Republicans should not pretend that the media does either.

Trump should have announced back in Jan. or Feb. that he wasn’t going to debate. The debates are phony personality contests to begin with, and the moderators are liberal Dems with an agenda.
Pray that the next Repub. candidate learns to just say no to the media staged debates.

The Presidential debates have never been anything more than a TV show.
Trump was a private citizen. Hillary was a sitting senator who actually had a vote on the war. She had access to all the data and intelligence. Her judgment is the real issue.
