Before Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton debate each other Monday, Clinton’s podium needed some adjustments.
Trump is a towering 6’2″ and Clinton is only 5’4″. To even the height field, Clinton’s podium now has plywood placed in the middle, according to WABC Radio Host Rita Cosby. The WABC journalist gained exclusive access to the podiums, which not only show Clinton’s is now a bit larger than Trump’s, but that there is also a small box Clinton might stand on.

The larger podium is for Trump. There is enough separation between the candidates, on the stage, that the difference in size isn't stark.

She should have asked for a taller not larger podium with a lift on ground. By making it wider as well as higher she will appear smaller.

If she takes the larger podium, yes. And I doubt she wants the visual that would result.
I would think it would highlight the difference rather than hide it. I really hope Trump tweets about this afterwards.

Plywood is relatively dense, 36 +\- pounds per cubic foot, stacking it in the bottom would effectively lower the center of gravity for the podium.
In other words, the additional weight at the very bottom would make it much harder to tip over.
They’ll probably throw a sack of lead shot in the bottom, possible some concrete patio block.

I hope you are right. But this morning I am seeing stories to the effect that she will be allowed to stand on some sort of platform, allowing her to appear equal in “stature” to Trump. The problem is, I thought I saw a story the other day that the Election Commission stated that that is not allowed.
Not definitive, but live on CNN just reported Crooked’s podium will be shorter. Showed the more or less finished stage too, there was no box or platform behind either podium.
This will only help her for the first half of the debate when she has the home field advantage. It won’t go so well for her in the second half when Donald gets to stand on the box behind that outsized podium.
