Before Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton debate each other Monday, Clintons podium needed some adjustments.
Trump is a towering 62″ and Clinton is only 54″. To even the height field, Clintons podium now has plywood placed in the middle, according to WABC Radio Host Rita Cosby. The WABC journalist gained exclusive access to the podiums, which not only show Clintons is now a bit larger than Trumps, but that there is also a small box Clinton might stand on.

The bigger podium will make her look smaller and weaker
The box to stand on will endanger her ability to stay aloft
It is going to be fun... If it happens at all
Hidden compartment to conceal Huma holding Her up
Lol!!
Handicapped access?
Yes, I think you are correct. An elevated podium for Trump will give a proportional perspective of body/head, so that Hillary does not look like a little kid trying to peer over the top of the podium.
Does the step up come with handrails?

Bush is such a dork.
“They need to screw down her shoes so she doesnt fall.”.......
I hope she tries to step off that phony “booster seat” and falls on her fat behind, with her health issues the potential is great for just such an incident. One can only hope.
Don’t be surprised when Trump carries out his own homebrewed platform and plops it down right before the nations eyes to foil Clinton’s attempt to look larger. It would be hilarious. Trump has pulled some pretty great pranks of one-upmanship lately and the opportunity has already been set by the Clinton clowns. He will have a surprise, I am counting on that.
Well you know the candidates aren’t going to meet in between the podiums at the start and have their pictures taken. Unless hillary comes in on Elton John Pinball Wizard shoes.
Both podiums are custom made. Hers is shorter. The images are going to show about the same amount of torso of each, above their respective podiums.
One of the first things you learn in stage craft is not to put anything on stage that might be tripped over. The difference in lights and brightness of lights makes vision difficult enough without protruding objects. It’s an accident waiting to happen for a normal person.
If there is an incident who will she blame?
The larger podium will actually make her look smaller as illustrated with the Edith Ann picture earlier. .... But she is queen and knows it all!
Electrical / electronic hardware for sound. The mics probably need power to work, and "BMx" is a model name for a sound mixer.
I don't think there is anything particularly unusual in the stage design. Teevee and movies are all about creating illusions, and the illusion being perpetrated here is that the candidates have approximately equal physical stature.
>>Why would she need a larger podium, as ballast to hold onto?
The Arkansas Broadbeam is becoming even broader.
The photo shows the podiums and “hide the wires” boxes under construction, and not even in place on the stage. Her podium is shorter, both candidates will stand on the stage floor (neither has a platform, that’s why her podium is slightly shorter) and the bare plywood box will probably be out of sight, or centered between the podiums. The bare plywood box takes mic signals from both, and feeds the signal(s) to an off-stage sound operator.
I have a minor in theatre They are not making them appear equal. The larger podium will make her appear smaller.
They could have used same size and positioned hers closer to the front of stage OTOH they may try that with the larger but then would not be able to take any full shots of stage because it would be very obvious on TV
I saw an article earlier describing repeated attempts by someone to get the debate committee to say whether the candidates would be allowed to wear earpieces.
What do we know about this earpiece issue?
