Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will meet Monday night for their first debate in a virtual dead heat in the race for the White House, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, with the Democratic nominee’s August advantage erased after recent difficulties and the GOP nominee still facing doubts about his qualifications and temperament.

Eight in 10 voters say they plan to watch Monday’s debate, and 44 percent expect Clinton to win vs. 34 percent expecting Trump to come out ahead. Expectations for Clinton are lower than they were for President Obama against Mitt Romney ahead of the 2012 debates, when 56 percent thought Obama would prevail vs. 29 percent for Romney. Although 17 percent of registered voters say the debate could change their minds, only 6 percent say there is a good chance of that occurring.
Most Americans say they are following the campaign diligently, but a higher percentage of Trump supporters appear to be paying close attention than Clinton backers. Also, more Clinton backers say they are not registered to vote, which adds to pressure on her team to get them registered and to the polls.

You can already hear it: “But I don’t know anyone who voted for Trump!”
Now even in the polls? is anyone surprised? They can’t have it any other way, no matter how much special sauce was needed to make it so.
Will the pollsters now use her decimation by Trump to explain her “sudden” drop in the polls, so they can save their “reputations”?
Or will they continue to prop her up with a proclaimed debate win and add more sauce to the mix?
This is Trumps element. It’s his to lose in the debate arena.

The MSM will declare Hillary the debate winner on the basis of her supposed “logic” and “command of the facts.” Of course, there will be few, if any, logical inferences drawn by anybody in the entire debate, and the MSM will be the sole arbiter concerning what is factual.
For most past polls Republicans do better with likely voters than registered. This year Democrats do? Strange.

Just a few months ago, the idea of Trump winning seemed surreal.... After all, the liberalized media’s original intention was to place Trump in the position of being a party crashing stooge, much in the same way they convinced Ross Perot to be one after he lost the Republican nomination in 1992. Trump ruined that plan when he ended up actually winning the nomination.
Now Trump’s on the verge of what could turn out to be a massive electoral victory over the weakest Democratic candidate since George McGovern.
The surreal has become so ‘real’ that the liberal media is heading for meltdown mode. Too funny.
This is going to be awesome TV viewing over the next month or so.

For this to be true, Hillary will have to beat the Obama turnout by 4 points.
She’ll be closer to the Kerry turnout of 2004 when the final results were R+4.
Like in 2004, it’s a race between a rich white liberal vs. someone who is not a mormon.
Allowing some good Trump numbers now so any post-debate bump is less impressive.

Funny when Trump leads, it’s a dead heat but when it really was a dead heat, he was struggling. Spin. Spin. Spin.
She always has people by her side..For 90 minutes it will be her,Trump and her illness.At this stage,even with meds ,it has a life of its own.She will be debating trump and waiting for the next shoe to drop with her illness in front of the whole country(YouTube forever)..That is pressure....
Don’t believe the polls. If ABC wants viewers for the debate, the two need to be tied.

True, but the demoncrats have a +10 dead voter advantage.
The good news is that, even in blue N.E. there is a surge of voter registration, and it's not because of Pickles. You don't see any yard signs for her, but plenty for Trump.
