It is pretty telling, to me, that she spends most of her time gripping the podium instead of gesturing while she talks. I’m not Italian, but that old joke about silencing an Italian by immobilizing her hands can very well apply to me. It’s not natural to hold the hands still.
If she’s not at a podium, she tends to have a death grip on the microphone with her left hand. She waves her right hand a bit, but with the fingers cupped together. Then when she is done waving them, she puts her right hand on her chest. I assume it is to keep it from shaking. Regardless, her hand motions are very odd. I could say that about almost all politicians (they all seem to love to gesture with a fist with the thumb resting on top. What normal person does that?), but hers are even odder.
