NEW YORK (AP) -- Since he entered the presidential race, it's been Donald Trump's style to break with convention. It's no different when it comes to debate prep.
The New York billionaire has skipped practicing a full debate as he gets ready for his first on-stage meeting with Hillary Clinton. While he has studied policy ideas and practiced answering questions he may face Monday night, experts who have been through the process call his decision to skip time-intensive mock debates a mistake.
"I think he's putting himself at an incredible disadvantage," said Brett O'Donnell, a Republican strategist and veteran debate coach who compared Trump's decision to a football team failing to scrimmage.
Trump's Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, has run through full-length mock debates against a stand-in for Trump during her preparation sessions. For good reason, O'Donnell said. Gaming out every potential permutation of what might happen in the 90-minute showdown helps a candidate calculate how to respond.

...if he bombs on Monday the Dems, MSM, GOPE, et al will smell blood in the water and itll be all week of how Trump bombed in the debates. You realize they are going to be saying that starting 2 minutes after the end of the debate.
The only way the MSM will say he won is if Hillary has a "medical emergency" right there on the stage, and even then they will try to cover for her. Or if he somehow got her to admit she lied, stole money and covered up facts.
But, the people watching are going to know who won.
And they are going to be thinking on Tuesday, who do you want to hear on the news every night?
* * * * * * * * It takes a lot of intellect to be able to constantly come up with witty one-liners. Trump is much smarter than Hillary and it is going to shine through.

I pretty much automatically tune out any verbiage that starts with "Trump needs to," "Trump should," or "Trump's making a mistake."
Anyone crazy enough to think they know better than Trump is automatically disqualified.

Wonder if Killary is practicing standing for long periods of time? More likely, she’s sitting during debate prep in a comfortable chair with lots of pillows. Oh, and an IV.

"Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy" by Lloyd Bentsen, "There you go again" by Reagan - I think that's the sum of the Hag's debate prep - the memorizing of a few choice one line zingers to spring out on Trump to be replayed in endless loops by the sycophant media into November. If you've seen any of her so-called speeches lately, it's a bunch of one liners all strung together that the media can pick from to run on their news shows, making her look like she was caught in the middle of making a profound policy statement when in fact it was just part of her random babbling. The media is going to be teeing up ball after ball for the Hag to hit, Trump just has to block them.

Productive Sector versus Parasitic Sector
Trump practices Every das of his life like ANY true Business Leader in a brutal dog-eat-dog competition. After 40 years, he is prepped. Hillary, on the other hand, has only “worked” in the parasitic government sector. She needs practice and prep because he work life is so shallow and lax.

Of course Trump needs to attack her. It would be a mistake for him to not attack her. We criticized Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for their debate performances.

if he bombs on Monday the Dems, MSM, GOPE, et al will smell blood in the water and itll be all week of how Trump bombed in the debates. Consider this...take a look at the Trump web site....
See those magnificent properties, golf clubs and residencies world wide....
I am sure Trump didn't have a "practice negotiation" when acquiring those properties.

I can see it now, for 80 minutes Trump figuratively craps all over the stage, and just when you think he's toast, Hillary falls backwards, flops around like a fish, and LITERALLY craps all over the stage.
I'm not sure I want to be eating popcorn when that happens.

It’s not worth worrying about it at this point, it is what it is. He has his own approach. I think he will easily hold his own and more.

I agree. It is a big mistake not to prep. That’s why people of all professions do drills.
This is Trump’s big chance, and he will let all of us, and the country, down if he doesn’t shine, or at least try to.

Did you all catch this line in Trump's speech in Roanoke today? I had to rewind it, thought it was brilliant. I hope he uses phrases like this in the debate
"Ive made a living for years looking at unused spaces and imagining what they could be. Politicians look at blighted neighborhoods and offer only excuses I look at those same neighborhoods and offer solutions."
