My first thought too. Mills is part of the inner circle. Does not pass the smell test.

There would be no immunity, if she doesn't have something they want.

Mills tried to use attorney-client privilege to avoid testifying about Clinton's email setup. It was laughable, because she wasn't Clinton's attorney during that time -- she was a staff member working for the State Dept. But, the FBI let her get away with it.

However, attorney-client privilege doesn't protect an attorney if the attorney participates in a criminal act. I'm guessing that someone else (Combetta?) rolled over and implicated Mills. So, they've got the goods on her, and that's forcing her hand.

The question is: will Mills now roll over and implicate Clinton, instead of shielding her?

WASHINGTON (AP) — A congressman says Hillary Clinton’s former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and two other staff members were granted immunity deals in exchange for their cooperation in the now-closed FBI investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (CHAY’-fits), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, tells the Associated Press that Mills gave federal investigators access to her laptop on the condition that findings couldn’t be used against her. Chaffetz says, “No wonder they couldn’t prosecute a case. They were handing out immunity deals like candy.”

Chaffetz says the two others granted immunity were John Bentel, then-director of the State Department’s Office of Information Resources Management, and Clinton aide Heather Samuelson. Two other people were previously identified as receiving immunity deals.

Real prosecutors doing their job grant immunity to obtain testimony/evidence, and know before the immunity is granted what the testimony/evidence will be.

You are quite right. Yet there is a report on this thread to the effect that (partial?) Immunity was granted in exchange for access to her laptop? Why would immunity be granted to obtain something that was readily obtainable through a subpoena or search warrant?

Limited immunity probably would give her the best of both worlds, protection against prosecution and protection against being required to waive her Fifth Amendment rights not to testify because conceivably her testimony might incriminate her for some act that was not covered by the immunity agreement.

Why don’t these crooks stop wasting time and just pardon them all? That’s what they’re going anyway with this kind of crap.
