Colin Kaepernick’s decision to not stand for the national anthem has inspired two Oakland City Council members to remain seated for the pledge of allegiance.
Desley Brooks and Rebecca Kaplan are the latest Oaklanders to follow Kaepernick in protesting oppression of minorities.
On March 21, 2009, Lovelle Mixon, a convicted felon wanted on a no-bail warrant for a parole violation, fatally shot four Oakland, California police officers. Mixon initially shot and killed two Oakland police officers during a traffic stop. After escaping on foot to the nearby apartment of his sister, Mixon then killed two police SWAT team officers attempting to apprehend him. Mixon was then killed as officers returned fire.
The killings made it one of the worst days for law enforcement in California history

If there is such a place, these “mistreated minorities” should be evacuating from this territory, in a SELF-DEPORTATION, and heading for that Nirvana where they shall in all ways be treated “fairly”.
Catalina is not NEARLY big enough to house all the “Americans in name only”.
This is where it begins. A group, or race, or culture decides to overthrow the “State” through this. it may seem small, but we created this country starting with small protests. So the end of this nation is coming sooner then we thought. Maybe the next generation, maybe this generation. Either way, our values, freedoms and our culture that exists now is being challenged by a culture that is less intelligent and has far less value on life and freedoms. This new culture seeks to impose it’s values over yours, believes it can take from others anything of value and have no consequences, and demands that you bow down to them and submit to their demands.
This planet is doomed. Thank you, Democrats. After you lost the Civil War, your set out of a mission to destroy the US. And your hate is going to change the world into a cesspool

I was vaguely astonished that this earlier effort hadn't really spread. I'm vaguely astonished that the Pledge of Allegiance even takes place in Oakland anymore; I'd be less astonished if there were some city law banning it.

Ex-Black Panther leader says Oakland councilwoman assaulted her
A former head of the Black Panther Party has filed a police report and a claim against the city of Oakland alleging that she was assaulted by Councilwoman Desley Brooks at a popular downtown restaurant.
Elaine Brown, 72, is seeking monetary relief from the city, saying she suffered physical and emotional harm from the assault on Oct. 30 at 126 Broadway, which is the Everett and Jones Barbeque restaurant.
“City Council member Desley Brooks assaulted me in a dispute arising from city business,” Brown wrote in a one-page complaint released by the city.
According to the claim, Brown sought medical attention and wants more than $10,000 from the city. Persons who intend to file civil lawsuits against the city must first file claims.
