Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Wednesday that he was troubled by the controversial shooting of Terence Crutcher, 40, by Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby last Friday because he looked like he did "everything he was supposed to do" but was killed anyway.
"I must tell you I watched the shooting in particular in Tulsa and that man was hands up. That man went to the car, hands up, put his hands on the car, I mean to me it looked like he did everything he was supposed to do," said Trump in remarks at a town hall style event addressing African-American issues in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
"And he looked like a really good man and maybe I'm a little clouded because I saw his family talking about him after the fact, so you get a little bit different image maybe. But to me he looked like somebody who was doing what they were asking him to do and this young officer I don't know what she was thinking. I don't know what she was thinking but I am very, very troubled by that," said Trump to applause.
Trump's comments came after he was asked by Rev. Darrell Scott, CEO of the National Diversity Coalition for Trump and pastor of the New Spirit Revival Center church in Cleveland Heights where the town hall was held, to comment on the "recent shootings of unarmed black men by the police."

I see your point. I just think it’s important to tread lightly on local / state jurisdiction issues. But, the focus on ‘aggressive police shootings’ has gone way past a specific state concern. So, considering he was asked - I’m glad he stated it as he did. He was definitely caught in a difficult situation, but he’s quite capable. I agree that this will help him to build more trust with the minority demographics.
“”And he looked like a really good man””
I agree he should keep his mouth shut. It is not necessary to comment on everything - like zero does!! He does say the most stupid things.
I saw this guy on a video and he looked like a “really good man.” Good grief!!!! Doesn’t anyone tell him to “”THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK?””
I am right about this so no one argue with me on this, please.

Sure, why let that facts get in the way of your opinion?

In this case, I think he meant ‘He seemed to be a very good man’ because he had spoken to family and learned more about him. I don’t think he meant literally by the way he looked.
Yes, what the hell is he thinking? Still plenty of time to blow this.
Both videos that I’ve seen, the helicopter video and the arriving police car video don’t show what the perp was doing when he was shot.
Perhaps there’s another video Trump has seen that I haven’t. Else, Trump’s comment is inappropriate.
Yes, I appreciate that.
TRUMP appeared to be specifically addressing only what he saw on that video.
Trump did not go past that.
He sounded innocent, and did not close off justice for the cop in any way, by admitting to his reaction to the video.
His black audience should appreciate his initial reaction, and even the cop admitted to thinking, incorrectly, that the driver “was reaching” into his car.
TRUMP has already proven his bona fides on supporting cops.
Now, he is seen being “real”, when clearly a 2 year cop panicked and made an error that was deadly.
I just believe he can be honest about two things at the same time. Thx, Holly.
Be careful what you consider to be ‘facts’ these days, like the administration’s data showing our economy is just peachy!
As always we should not jump to conclusions until all the evidence is n.

I agree.
Wait until the toxicity report comes in. It will be an enlightening read.
In the meantime, if you a pulled over and a cop says stay put, it certainly alright to mozy back to you car and reach into your window for your cell phone.
I agree with you and that Trump said what he saw on the video. I watched a few other videos of the incident and it’s hard to tell why the officer shot him After he was already Tasered. Doesn’t make sense.
Trump responded correctly especially under the situation. But here is the Big Take-Away. This was a perfect question that would get asked in the Debates. Trump can now focus.
Also, if you watch the “rest of the video” of Trump, you see him end with (paraphrasing) “police are troubled by what happened too - we all have to respect the police - maybe people that choke shouldn’t be doing that line of work”
On the upside, watch the MSM now rush to the cop’s defense because Trump observed that it looked bad, lol
After viewing the video, more needs to be known about the female officer. Especially how long she has been on the force and out in the field. The situation arises from the fact one officer tazers the guy and shortly after the female cop shoots. This could be from being very nervous as the guy clearly towered over her. I am just guessing here and that is that the tazer scared her and she instinctively pulled the trigger. I don’t think the firing of the shot was intentional at all. Why she had her finger on the trigger is anyone’s guess. The aftermath and cover up is the core of the issue here. Blue trying to save blue but if they came out and told the truth it there would have been outrage yes but I don’t think it would have been as bad as it is going to be. The officer that shot the guy, needs to lose her job its plainly obvious. She is going to be scarred for life from this incident. However, that is what happens when you make a colossal mistake such as this. People are people and mistakes are made. To me whether or not I agree with women on the force should or should not happen is pretty much a moot point right now when clearly a cover up and disinformation campaign is taking place that has more prevalence to the story than that of a woman on the force. This is why their is distrust amongst LEOs today. We as citizens place our unconditional trust in them to act appropriately and within the bounds of the law. When they break that trust it is fractured and it takes a very long time to get back.
THAT is the big issue no one is allowed to talk about. There have been several high-profile fatal shootings where the lone female among male officers fired first when the others did not, or initiated the shooting which was joined in by the male counterparts.
But how many videos have looked bad—and then turned out to be something else?
Too soon to, beergate-like, jump to conclusions.
Thank you!! Excellent reporting. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Everyone should take a look for further reading into this incident.
a sceared person with a gun will kill you, thats a known fact.
