Newt Gingrich claims the US would sell weapons to Ukraine if Trump becomes president

If Donald Trump is elected U.S. President, the issue on the provision of lethal weapons to Ukraine could be unlocked and an option of arms sales with deferred payments could be offered, the former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, stated in an interview with European Pravda. Gingrich made the assertion response to the question on how U.S. policy toward Ukraine will change in case of Trump’s victory.

“We can say for sure that President Trump will unlock the issue on provision of weapons to Ukraine. Donald Trump can say pleasant things about Putin but in the meantime he will sell weapons to Ukraine,” Gingrich said. “It will be precisely selling and I think that the deferral of payments will be offered to Ukraine,” the former Speaker added.

Well I can’t actually blame Putin for going after Crimea.....he had warned Nato members for years if their expansion continued Ukraine’s borders to his country would be the red line...and he drew it. They ignored it.

Had Putin wanted to at any time invade Ukraine he could have done so....but he also knew Kiev’s leadership was nothing but a headache and had been for decades....more than a few ocassions he butted heads with them.

At any rate..it’s done.

Invading neighbors and taking land is no longer acceptable behavior.

Those nations desired to do business with the West. That was their big sin.

As for Crimea, there are legitimate ways to handle a situation like that. You don’t just march in and take possession.

The two countries should have held talks and worked something out. And if the Ukraine didn’t want it to happen, that’s their territory.

Putin didn’t have a legal leg to stand on there.

Well obviously those "acceptable behavior" rules do apply to some more than others....I guess it would depend on how you take over another country today....some do so behind the scenes as we know. Proxy wars also come to mind.

As for nations desiring to do business with the West. Well that generally is up to the leadership of those nations how they go about that...but of course that doesn't mean the citizens are going to be happy how that plays out.

The only hope Ukraine could ever have is if some other nation got involved with their affairs of governance...they sure as heck haven't been able to do that for decades and decades. It's been a debtor nation and remains that...just the bosses they owe changes...and they will always "keep them" a debtor nation to control them.

Well they were involved with 'talks' even before the Orange and the latest revolution.....but when hasn't Ukraine been having a 'revolution' of one kind or another, that does see to be 'the language' they speak to settle their differences....even among themselves? ....Thus I would argue they lack greatly the ability to govern their nation as they do seem to be always in "thug mode"...so I'm not so sure they do well at "talking"....they do draw blood everywhere it seems....

Poor 'Yats' even got his frontage grabbed at one Parliament "talk".....

It’s actually not done. The war is active and the annexations of a sovereign nation is wrong, illegal and evil.

Stop making excuses for Evil.

Of course it’s done....Ukraine isn’t close to being among the top issues on Europe’s agenda right now. There’s too many internal issues they’re contending with to prevent further breakup of the EU and determining how to deal with refugee problems, which is causing stress and strain on their Union...to just name a couple.

Furthermore they have their hands plenty full just keeping Ukraine’s leadership stable and their reforms moving, which isn’t going so well even on their key reforms.. there problems aren’t with the people but with those who are still trying to hold onto control and not reform.

As one of their advisers recently stated....”You can be a friend to Ukraine without being an enemy to Russia.”....and that’s where they will eventually come to understandings....they always do in time.....but it will take years for them to get to that mindset.

BTW...I’m not one to stand with Russia nor Ukraine.....it’s there business IMO and they’ll eventually work it out together....they always do....once everybody else gets there noses out of the way.

.
Sounds like Gingrich got his feelings hurt when he didn’t get picked for Veep, and is trying to cause problems for Trump.

In what way has Russia worked anything out with it’s neighbors?

They either kill them, enslave them, or get their asses kicked. There is not middle ground.

Russians ‘work things out’ by genocide, subversion and lies.

Trump could kick their ass by just saying such questions are far too sensitive to be bantied about on network TV.

“but of Military maneuver’s”

how masterful...they come, destroy and kill. nothing impressive about it.

What is impressive is folks like you who instead of looking at Russia as an oppressor, you support the murderous terrorists.

pathetic and shameful

Sorry Koz...but our Military does take advantage of these opportunities to study those who might be a threat...and that includes China, N. Korea and other Middle Eastern actors. So I will trust their judgement when it comes to their observations and assessments regarding Russia’s Military as well...

As for Russia...there isn’t a Freeper here that doesn’t understand the world stage in regards to Russia’s place on it....or any of the other actor nations moving about as well as stationary. They are quite informed here as you should know.

I see Russia as I would any other nation....with one eye open always. But no one denies that Russia’s population supports their president for the most part.

BTW...There’s nothing pathetic nor shameful of being aware of these actors on the World Stage....as well understanding the dynamics of how they play their hands.
