I strongly suggest a boycott.
Godell should say: “We play this before games to memorialize fallen soldiers and vets, no other political reason. Anything else you want to add to that purpose, ok, but keep it to yourself. If you don’t stand arms at side or hand on heart, you don’t play that game. If the players union votes against this, we stop playing the song.” They won’t vote that way because the NFL would wither away. If they do, let it.
If that’s the new NFL color me gone and not buying anything from their sponsors!
Think of the money saved
I’ve enjoyed getting back a few hours of my Sunday afternoon and Monday nights the last 2 weeks.
I thought it would be a one or two week protest on my part but I don’t miss it at all and like the extra free time.
Goddell has already come out in support of the players. Until the owners (Goddell’s bosses and the players’ employers) take a stand, this will continue. Cut the troublemakers and watch how fast this crap stops.
But then again, they wouldn’t allow players to wear cleats honoring the 9/11 victims. Hat tip to NY Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz. They told the NFL to go ahead and fine thim; but they wore the cleats anyway.
Me, too.
Attempting to give a damn...
The NFL is digging its own grave.
Thanks to the healing touch of the Nobel Peace prize winning resident of the White House, race relations are the worst they’ve been since I was a kid in the 1960s.
Not surprised it’s the Eagles. They probably can’t even spell “class”.
“Are they really this ignorant?”
Yes.
Good. Stop supporting millionaire thugs.
Thug life baby! Its cool being a thug, ya feel me. I get mo baby mammas and attention. Dot matter that I make more coin than most of america. It all bout me. (sarc)
Its unclear what the difference is between this and flag burning, so Ill reiterate my opinion about flag burning. Namely, that it is speech" - but the speakers are not expecting to take responsibility for their words.Congress should pass a law assigning a specific presumptive meaning to public, intentionally televised, flag burning. Namely, that the speaker wants to sell his US citizenship and become an exile. A court hearing would be conducted to allow the speaker to renounce that intent, or to renounce his citizenship. If the latter, he should be awarded thirty pieces of silver and a one-way ticket out.
When this was done at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico, the athletes were on the next plane home and never heard from again. No one signed them for anything.
Exactly. Where are the coaches/GMs/owners with integrity?
Any player not standing respectfully for the anthem - I'd bench them that game, tell them to head back to the locker room, change-out, and GTFO of the stadium. Second offense, same thing, and I'd tell them not to bother even coming to the game following that one. Third offense ('cause some of these types will be slow learners) they're back on the practice squad on their way out of the franchise, probably the NFL.
You want to make a political statement, bravo - but you do it on your own time. Virtually every large business has rules/regs about political activity in the workplace. When you're on the field, in the team's uniform, you are on the job and you will project the image of a competent professional, or else.
Are they really this ignorant?
(((
Probably. I am hoping that enough loyal Americans will boycott the NFL until they put a stop to this.
BASTARDS! I think some Sunday, thousands of fans should show up early at the stadiums in San Francisco and Philadelphia and block the players entrance to the locker room and force the game to be cancelled.
