I have a hard time believing Russians would want that kind of thing again.
They didn’t want it the last time either. But they got it, and Solzhenitsyn put it down to no will on the people’s part to fight back.
Their opinion is irrelevant. What little democratic process their was in Russia is long gone. Putin has kept the form of elections, but has made it effectively impossible for his opposition to compete.
Re-centralizing intelligence and security functions is merely the icing on the cake.
