He was 63. They played Taps at the cemetery and draped the flag. It was beautiful but gut wrenching.
My sister didn’t ask for it, but she received a letter saying his type of heart failure had been connected to chemicals used in the war and she would receive a certain amount of monetary compensation.
I never asked her about it again because it wasn’t my business.
He was a GOOD man and GREAT father and I’ve stepped in to help the kids even though they are early 20s. Boys still need guidance at that age. Not like the old days.

BTW, of the few things he told me about the war, I would have fainted dead away if I encountered those things. You guys are tough. I’m 48.
