Eagles planning anthem demonstration on Monday night
Pro Football Talk ^ | 09/17/2016 | Mike Florio

The first Sunday of the regular season coincided with the 15th anniversary of 9/11. And while there were still some demonstrations from NFL players during the national anthem, at least one team refrained on that day — but won’t in Week Two.

“Everybody wants to be a part of it and I feel like it’s no different on our team,” Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins told Glen Macnow of WIP in Philadelphia on Friday, via CSNPhilly.com. “We got guys, especially myself, who feel very strongly about the topic. Last week, we talked about doing some stuff, but we wanted to make sure we didn’t do anything to take away from the folks, the families, that suffered from 9-11. We didn’t want to mess with that day, so we left last week alone. But moving forward, I’m sure there will be guys that will probably join in.”

The NFL is going downhill just like ESPN

They could control this but now it is out of hand

People watch sports to get away from from politics

I will go to high school sports just as much fun

and you support the kids

AHHH YES, FOOTBALL

Football – along with “professional” wrestling – is the Heavyweight Division of the Celebrity Worship Club where watching 300 pound men in tights making 6 and 7 figure salaries knock the piss out of one another will somehow make the lives of those who witness this activity better and more worthwhile.

The Beautiful People Division, which serves a similar purpose (occasionally sans the violence) is currently headed by some Armenian American Princess named Kim Kardashian. She is known for the substantial size of her gluteus maximus muscles, so large they have been assigned their own zip code and are believed to have an independent weather system. As is the case with the Heavyweight Division, watching and reading about the comings and goings of the members of this division is also believed to enhance the lives of the average citizen.

In the early days of the American Republic, there was also a Political Division. It was disbanded due to loss of interest after the election of “progressive” hero Woodrow Wilson, father of the One World forerunner of the beloved United Nations, the League of Nations, the Federal Reserve and – drumroll, please – THE INCOME TAX!

Want to do something that might actually have some impact on YOUR LIFE more important than watching those 300 pounders beat the crap out of each other? You can start by visiting this site and learning how YOUR rep and senators are screwing you and your kids and grandkids out of their birthright:

when you get to be in the millionaire class there is one segment (entertainment and athletics) that completely lose any notion of reality.

You can add "politics" to that list.

This made my mind up. I can easily not watch anymore.

This is supposed to be sports, not politics.

I won’t be watching.

Philadelphia sports fans of old were fairly brutal if their sports teams stunk it up if only for that night. Went to a few baseball games while hanging at the Navy base for deployments in the late 70's and early 80's. Hope fans of today still have the same gusto...

I would tell everyone who is committed to honouring their nation to come out on the field before the singing of the anthem. Anyone who cannot find it in themselves to stand for the anthem would be welcome to remain in the dressing room and quietly walk out to the field, with no introduction or fanfare after it is over.

“If i were an owner I d tell my players that anyone who sits or otherwise disrespects the anthem can expect his locker to be cleaned out and placed on waivers. Then they are free to protest all they want.”
==
Bud Grant institutionalized the practice decades back with the Vikings - players were required to stand in line and remove their helmets for the anthem. Prior to then players would mill about or whatever. Put Bud in charge of the NFL to shape things up!

I will watch the broadcast (I’m addicted to two things - politics and football). But I did cancel NFL Network yesterday (it was the only useful channel in the Sports Pack) and told the Comcast agent why. And I called the Patriots and told them to remove me from their marketing lists (email, catalogs). I told the girl that any brand related to the NFL I will not purchase until this crap ends. They are hearing us, believe me.

Haven’t watched an NFL game in years.
I just can’t figure why a middle aged white male would take his son, spending hundreds, to a game. And what’s he get?Bragging rights to say his thugs are better than your thugs?
