I forgot to respond regarding the Pope. Not being Catholic I have limited insight into him in reality, but sadly I must admit that I am not really that impressed with him. He seems to send mixed messages, that even his followers question, not to mention others within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church.
While obviously God's word has not changed, it seems like his teachings are morphing in various situations and to varying degrees. When true science is at odds with teachings then this is understandable, but then it still brings in questions as to why they were at odds in the first place. To me, the answer is that it is man's transcription of what God enlightened them with and they misinterpreted either by design or misunderstanding.
