‘Disadvantaged’ Beverly Hills Fashionista Worked No-Show VA Job, Took Millions From Feds

A fashionista from Beverly Hills, Calif., collected millions in interior design contracts from federal agencies by claiming to be “disadvantaged,” while simultaneously working at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) sending work to design companies.

Ronda C. Jackson was a no-show at her VA job, colleagues said. Records show she instead spent her time running a design company that got $7 million in contracts from the VA and other government agencies since 2008, reselling them marked-up goods like five-seat tables for $17,000.

Since 1997, Jackson has run Décor Interior Design, which seeks preference on government contracts by claiming to be disadvantaged because she is black, a woman and based out of a supposedly downtrodden “Historically Underutilized Business Zone” (HUBZone). The reduced-competition contracting program is known as 8(a).

Jackson worked as a full-time federal employee at the Los Angeles VA center in fiscal years 2010 and 2011, which ran from Oct. 1, 2009 to Sept. 30, 2011. Pay records show she worked as a GS-12 level interior designer and made $80,000 each year. Colleagues said they never saw Jackson in the office.

The reduced-competition contracting program is known as 8(a).

Wrong. They are three different disadvantaged small business categories eligible for bid restrictions, preferences and set-asides.

She claimed all three so as to get locked in on more work. If she was involved in the design she probably got the small business contracting specialist to include them in set asides in a corrupt bargin.

The VA will fight a Veteran to the death over a nickel.

If they fight enough Veterans for nickels, then they can steal dollars for themselves.
= = = = = = = = = = = =

The VA administers to vets, not for.

Of course I am generalizing and the one time I ‘needed’ them I was completely satisfied etc.

I am a ‘bad’ example though, I had a Hernia Op in 1959 while in the Navy and my next involvement in the Medical Community was 2007 for cataract surgery at a VA facility.

Other than prior my cataract surgery, my last ‘physical’ was my Navy discharge which went something like ...We can schedule this for..., That for OR if you sign this waiver we can have you out of here in 20 minutes. (or something like that).

Thank you for your service.

I did 28 years in the Army.

I’m glad that you had a good experience with the VA.

I haven’t had good experiences with them.

My Father did not have good experiences with them.

They have actually stolen from me.

They refused to tell my Dad that his leukemia had returned because he wouldn’t tell them about his finances. He had a great answer for them.

“There wasn’t anybody standing on the dock asking me how much money I made when they put my ass on that troopship and sent me to the Korean War. If I made too much, would they have sent me home?”

He died from that leukemia.

I despise the VA.

Ronda was awarded the 2014 Minority Small Business Champion, 2013 Outstanding Entrepreneur, a 2014 Women Making a Difference nominee, and her company was listed in the Top 100 Minority Firms in Los Angeles.

LOL. She got a bunch of business awards for having a guaranteed customer and no competition?
