DETROIT (AP) Ford Motor Co. says it's moving all of its U.S. small car production to Mexico.
Ford CEO Mark Fields confirmed the long-expected move Wednesday during an event for investors and Wall Street analysts.
Ford currently makes its Fiesta subcompact in Mexico, but its Focus and C-Max small cars are made in suburban Detroit. Making them in Mexico would boost company profits because of low wages there.

“Yeah, is Ford trying to throw the election to Trump?”
The timing of the announcement of their decision makes you wonder. Maybe Ford is being pro-America here.
No doubt theyll be smuggling in hundreds of tons of dope hidden in these new vehicles like the cartels are already doing with countless other products.
Well not only need to tax the sh*t out of these products but thousands of these vehicles them will need to be routinely dismantled and searched one at a time to ensure that corrupt country and this slimy unscrupulous company do not continue with this country with an endless conga of drugs flooding in.
That’s another reason I only buy meat and milk at wholefoods.
true, but wood was used extensively. Ford contracted bodies by the thousands from several manufacturers. This was not “custom coach work”. These bodies accounted for one third of all ford automobiles up until the early 40s.
Unless this is simply posturing by Ford (for whatever purpose), it is an incredibly dumb move before finding out who’s going to win the election.
A lie of omission is a lie nonetheless....please tell the WHOLE story...
Ford is EXPANDING production in the US...yes they are moving small car production to Mexico...but larger more lucrative vehicle production in the US is INCREASING.

Too many facts spoil a good rant.

I also try to buy only USA fruits (bananas and limes are hard to find USA) and vegetables. If the country of origin doesn’t say USA, I don’t want it.
I don’t know how someone can see tomatoes from USA next to some that say Mexico and then pick up the ones that say Mexico. I’ve actually left stores because they didn’t have USA tomatoes.
NAFTA, which was specifically passed by Congress, very effectively prevents a president form some kind of retaliation. Ford’s small cars are meant more for the non-US market anyway.
This should be rich with anti America car manufacture crowd....
About 25 years ago there was a TV special on the tomato growers in Mexico.
Some of it was quite disgusting.
I have never bought a tomato from Mexico since then.
“Hey Baracko, go have a ‘meeting’ with experts and talk about it... “
You should have said ‘experts’. As if.
Just a working truck..........Almost impossible to get unless you are a utility company or fleet buyer.

There is a high tariff on imported pickups that effectively keeps smaller, cheaper pickups off the US market, so US makers don’t need to make one to compete.
Tariffs are indeed the best way to raise money for the federal government, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have some negative effects.
Getting out while the getting is good. In your face Obama.
I've been hoping for the Ranger or S15 to return. I had an Isuzu that ran out of life at 375,000 miles after 25 years. Best darn little truck ever! Of course that was why they stopped making them for US sale. They were too good.
Well, somebody remembers...
