The school’s principal, Dr. William Logan, said Johnson was a “great kid” and called his death a “loss to our school.”

Principal needs to be fired for not seeing and appreciating that an armed thug is not and cannot be a great kid. His death is not a loss to anyone. Celebrate one less criminal.

Let me guess, the mother said that her baby was a little angel who didn’t do nothing.

Do people even know what a “great kid” is anymore?

Committing an robbery is not the definition of a “great kid”. The school principal probably doesn’t even know that kid, probably why he is a “great kid”, the principal would only know the names of the frequent flyers to his office, heck he probably doesn’t even do discipline, that is why he has 5 vice principals

I knew a kid like that. As a teen he liked to play cop and pull people over and write tickets. His dad had been a reserve officer.

After a stint in the Navy to keep from going to prison for impersonation, he kidnapped the sister of a guy who owed him money and kept her at gunpoint for a month while eluding the authorities. No sex, just intimidation.

A maid opened the hotel room door, girl bolted, kid fled in his car and wrecked out on the Interstate. Cops blew his head off with a shotgun when he wouldn’t put his rifle down. If memory serves correctly, it was a rather realistic looking BB gun. Sorry way for him to end his own life and a disservice to the poor police officers who had to deal with him.

Yeah, a “real good kid.”/S

A long time ago, I happened to be in a friend's apartment at the wrong time. (That relationship had become decreased in interaction over the preceding years)

That friend, who would have been deemed an easy mark, occasionally dabbled in drugs; and apparently two people wanted it & came after it right as I was visiting.

So I know what it's like to have a gun pointed @ me during an apartment robbery.

Those two gun-toters back in that day who robbed a disabled person were hoodlums & could in no way be defined "great" in any way.

Neither was this hoodlum; he was no adolescent "trick or treater."

Of course, his description wouldn’t be complete without a picture of him at 7 years old. What kind of racist would shoot a kid like this?

Should schools have those gun detectors that airports have?
Sad state of America.

The teenager left dead after the gunfire, Jalen Johnson, was a student at Hillside High School in Durham. The school’s principal, Dr. William Logan, said Johnson was a “great kid” and called his death a “loss to our school.”

His death was more like a cleansing of the gene pool. Thank God no one was raped/murdered and the resident of the apartment was armed.

I’m surprised at how many great kids I have known - and none of them thought of armed home invasions and pretending to be the police as part of their greatness. The closest they came was pretending to be a cop at age 5 or 6, while holding a cap gun, and the police were always the good guys in those games.
