Having her step down would create a crisis. Once some early votes have been cast and some write in ballots have been sent out, wouldn’t that be lost votes? That’s one of the many problems with early voting. It doesn’t fully capture voter sentiment on election day. If the dems ever tried to undo them, I’d assume chaos would ensue.

Technically no. The votes go to the party, and the party can (constitutionally) choose or change candidate until mid December.

But, on a political level, I'd call those voters "disenfranchised" or "baited" as in "bait and switch." I'd also accuse the DEMs of doing the bait and switch on purpose.

If they want to do early voting, make it Monday & Tuesday. Voting for a month a more is dumb.
