“This year, grievance-mongers moaned about the casting of mixed-race actress Zoe Saldana as black jazz legend Nina Simone”

isn’t saldana an extreme left winger who marched for BLM and other far left wing causes?

Additionally, she wants Japanese-American George Takei to play the Chinese Emperor and another Korean American, Margaret Cho, to play the Chinese matchmaker.

A hate-filled homosexual and a hate-filled lesbian - that casting would seem to ensure a box office disaster.

Grievance mongering. Their motto, in the immortal words of Mickey Rooney: “Miss Gorightly I protest! You disturba me!”

I’m afraid I’ll have to take the side of the whiners in this one. IMO, historical characters should be played by someone who looks as much like them as possible. Thus, Mulan should be played by an Asian actress, Martin Luther King should be played by a black actor, and Hamilton should be played by a white actor. To do otherwise is to degrade historical accuracy.

Fictional characters, on the other hand, should be played by whoever — unless a specific race or gender is specifically called for.

History has shown that giving into these protestors for the sake of diminishing their protests has the opposite effect of validating and enhancing their power. It is one thing to find the right chemistry of actors and directors, it is another thing entirely to add a surreal authenticity to a ‘legendary’ story for the sake of satisfying a grievance.

Yes, Hollywood has past history of seeking box office mojo over authenticity. John Wayne was ludicrous as Genghis Khan BUT Yul Brynner was successful as a Thai Emperor AND an American West gunfighter (YB was of Swiss, German, Russian and Russian-Eurasian descent).

These whiners are the same people who insist remakes of movies cast coloreds in traditionally white roles. Even cartoon characters. Somehow that’s ok.

(Yes, I said coloreds. So what? To the people I am referring it’s all about color. Nothing else matters.)

No criticism for all the non-India actors voicing the characters in the 2016 “Jungle Book”? South African Idris Elba as Shere Khan? Why does the black guy always end up the villain? Christopher Walken as King Louie? Bill Murray as Baloo? Scarlett Johannsen as Kaa? Lupita N’yongo as Raksha? At least Ben Kingsley is sort of Indian.

Don’t animals have rights too (according to the SJWs)?

In all honestly, I’d love to have the voices actually be Indian actors. It’d be a great way to start pulling the huge Bollywood industry into American awareness, and how cool would it be for Shere Khan to be voiced by Amitabh Bachhan?

Disney's live-action remake of the 1998 animated hit "Mulan" ...

What a stupid idea.

This is why Music in this country sucks! The entire industry is full of these idiots, from the local Music Editor at your average free weekly paper, all the way up to the Head of AR at formerly reputable record companies.

I couldn’t take it anymore. I played rock music all over the world for 25 years and just walked away. Four or Five White Men making great music together is something you will NEVER see again in this country. Not at the top levels. No way!

I don’t get it. Who is the actress in the photo? There is no mention of who was actually cast as Mulan. Is it the woman in the photo? She sure looks Asian to me.

Why don’t they just cast Morgan Freeman as Mulan and be done with it?
