The National Football League is bracing for possible widespread player demonstrations during the national anthem at Sundays opening games, in what would mark a high-profile escalation of a protest movement over concerns of racial injustice in America.
The games fall on the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, which the NFL plans to commemorate with appearances by military personnel, first responders and two U.S. presidents. That backdrop could further animate a fierce national debate set off last month by quarterback Colin Kaepernicks refusal to stand for the anthem.

I would refuse to watch sports if I didn’t already. Pro athletes are overpaid and most are spoiled and poor role models. When it comes to amusement I would rather do, than watch.
I think that later today we are going to witness massive fan revolts directed at any player or team that decides to disrespect the national anthem. If the NFL doesn’t get their stuff together, I predict that walkouts will start to occur, leading to much loss of prestige and more importantly revenue.
I sent an email to the NFL Players Association expressing disgust. My main point was asking how many young black men will die because, when in a difficult situation where police should be called, they didn’t do so because athletes they look up to conveyed that it would only make matters worse for them.
Watching football is a white man’s game. We like to watch our black heroes, until our heroes call us racist one too many times.
