The U.S. Military Academy is launching an inquiry into a prayer led by coaches following Armys opening-day victory over Temple last week.
Video of the post-game invocation was pulled offline on Monday after West Point officials received a complaint from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.
Mikey Weinstein, who heads the MRFF, said he received complaints from six members of the football team, two of whom he said identified as Christians, as well as dozens of Army graduates and staff who took exception to the religious expression.

If the cadet was Jewish, it might be a legitimate offence. “Jesus” is the name that was used by the Crusaders who slaughtered Jews on their way to Jerusalem. It is the name used by a Christianity that has routinely killed and tortured, exiled and ostracized Jews for two thousand years. The Catholic Church used its “Jesus” to bring hell and damnation down upon the Jews, even portraying Jews sodomizing pigs in carvings on Cathedrals throughout Europe. So forcing (if only by consensus) someone to pray in that name would be unfair. Two things must be done: first, pray to the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, or the L-rd G-d of Israel; as all Christians and Jews claim Him. The individual may ad his own nuanced words to himself, but this would allow for a critical unity among those who stand for Biblical truth. Second: the “Jesus” of Christianity must be be deconstructed and replaced by Yeshua, the Rabbi, Torah Sage and sacrificial leader of a sweeping Kiruv movement in ancient Israel. This will lead to a working relationship in which Jews and Gentiles can work together to save the Culture.
Damn and they opened 2-0 and looked like they might actually provide my Midshipmen with a bit more of a challenge for the first time in forever.....this will be such a major distraction and generate a lot of discord on the team.
I think a lot of folks go out of their way to be offended.
Troublemaker :-)
People disrespect our country, our flag and our anthem and no one rises up to stop them. But prayer, OMG, that has to be stopped now or there will be riots. We’re toast.
Yep, that’s the problem in this country, Christians praying too much.
Don’t they have anything better to do?
prayer Is good
That 2 word statement sadly, but accurately portrays 2016 America.
LOL :-)
“The U.S. Military Academy is launching an inquiry into a prayer...”
“Inquiry”? Huh. Like Inquest or Inquisitive or Inquisition?
The New American Inquisition. Except that the G-dless now persecute the G-d fearing decent people. Separation of Church and State has transformed into Eradication of Church by State. Sickening.
Mikey Whinestein again.
So, who’s making them participate or even pay attention? Next time maybe they’ll want to start chanting “Phooey, phooey, phooey...” when those offensive prayers start.
An interesting take, Rebbe. But few of today’s secular Jews would even understand it. Nor would most professing Christians.
Hang in there until January.
Things will begin to change under President Trump
Checked my Constitution again: Opps, there doesn’t seem to be an amendment that gives you the right to NOT be offended!
However, it does give you the right to free expression of religion.
