This whole msnbc thing was a sham.
Why did Matt switch chairs — he sat on the right side of Clinton, but switched and sat to the left of Donald — that seemed odd to me.
Then at times he peppered Donald shotgun style interjecting arguments and questions trying to knock him off his game.
There must be some hidden advantage/disadvantage relative to which side left or right you sit when interrogating someone.

Typically, your interviewer/etc... sits on the right side as a show of prevalence. Like most talk show hosts sit on the right, while their guests are to the left.

It is an old showbiz theatrical trick: main characters/victors would typically exit stage right, lesser characters/losers would exit stage left.

The sitting on the right or left was probably dictated by Trump. Probably against the wishes of Lauer. Just my guess.

He was trying to appear to be centrist. To the right of Hillary and left of Donald.

He had to sit to the right of Clinton in order that her earpiece in her left ear wouldn’t show up on camera.
