Pomona College had several events last year that white students were not allowed to attend, yet the school’s website states that “Pomona College seeks to maintain an environment of mutual respect among all members of its community” and that discrimination on the basis of race “destroy[s] the foundation for such respect and violate[s] the sense of community vital to the College’s education enterprise.”
Can’t they see the contradiction?
Of course not. Their brains have been completely reconfigured and immersed in Orwellian Doublethink.
In the name of fairness, they are inverting the perceived social pyramid in the 1950s and before, so white men who were at the top then must be at the bottom today. The fact that they are punishing the innocent for the sins of the guilty is irrelevant if you believe in collective identities. That’s why it is called “white privilege”. Poor whites are seen as having advantages that minorities don’t, which is how a poor white kid from a trailer park can be demonized and considered “privilege” and denied opportunity relative to the recent African immigrant or child of a black doctor.
Liberals are reverting to the old tribal morality of circles, the inner circle/highest group being the best and most moral and given the greatest support, like men of the tribe historically, women and children of the tribe second, slaves /allies of the tribe next, and everyone else had no obligation or minimal obligations.
The so called victimhood hierarchy creates this similar system, women inner circle relative to men, sexual minorities considered more virtuous and right compared to normal people, the darker your skin the greater your privilege. When someone is offended or upset, it is like the caste system of India or Islamic dhimmitude, where is everyone’s place, that is who is right unless there is a more powerful rule being broken. For example, the Muslim man is right unless he’s telling his wife to break Islamic rules, at which point, Islam wins over his status.
Social justice warriors see it as moral to accord each group a status / identity with a level of morality, and whites who obey the system are the outermost “inside” circle while those who don’t follow the rules and grovel as the new untouchables are outside the circle, without any rights or respect at all.
This world view also destroys personal freedoms. The tribes of old had their gods, like Yaweh was the god of the Israelites. If you are a black person, your membership in the tribe depends on adhering to the official list of views. Be conservative, Republican, you are an apostate, evil, to be disassociated at best and attacked at worse. That’s why Clarence Thomas, a Supreme court judge, Thomas Sowell, Ivy League economist, and other conservative blacks can be savaged.
It is akin to how conservative women are attacked for not really being women, because they’ve betrayed feminism. When the tribe has an official list of beliefs and you violate those religious tenets, you’re worse than an unbeliever. Pro-life blacks, Hispanics who oppose LBGTA and other groups are silenced, too, though they aren’t treated as badly because they have higher moral standing than the white pro-life Christian everyone agrees can be assaulted.
It is the combination of church and state, tribal membership/belief system. It denies individuals freedom of belief and action, but it holds the tribe together better. And when you want power, it is an attractive combination and lazy way to manage people. Immoral, too, if you believe the most important minority is the individual.
