The 'radicalised' owner of a car found packed with gas cylinders close to Notre Dame cathedral has been arrested, police have revealed.
The vehicle, a Peugeot 607 without a licence plate, was found with its hazard lights flashing close to the landmark building in the heart of the French capital. Documents with writing in Arabic were also found in the car.
Police say the car's owner, who is now in custody, is on an intelligence services watchlist of people suspected of religious radicalisation.

Well certainly if I were going to perpetrate a major act of terrorism I would draw as much attention to my bobby trap as possible by removing it’s license plate and leaving the flashers on.

I agree completely. If this muslim was on a watch list and got as far as loading explosives in his car and leaving them near the Cathedral, I’d say the watch list is useless. We have to stop pussy-footing around with these animals.

I visited Notre Dame as a teenager in the early 1980s. Even though I did not believe in God at the time, I remember thinking that He surely must exist, because only a Supreme Deity would be capable of inspiring mere mortals to design and construct such a magnificent edifice. That is how profound an effect it had, merely entering that building and looking around.
If Notre Dame is destroyed, it would be a huge loss for our Christian patrimony and our Western culture. The Muslims know this, all too well, which is why they will keep on trying. Is their will to destroy us stronger than our desire to preserve the best of what we are?
How can this be??? Prez bush said this is a “religion of peace”? Surely our “leaders” wouldn’t lie to us.
