A Mexican lawmaker is pushing for a law that would make it extremely difficult for a president Donald Trump to erect a border wall without severe penalties.
The Hill reported: A Mexican lawmaker is pushing legislation that would let Mexico's government retaliate against a possible Donald Trump presidency, Reuters reported Friday.
The legislation is designed to counter any attempt from the U.S. government to make Mexico pay for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, and gives the Mexican Senate power to disavow international treaties if Mexican national and business interests are threatened by another state.
"In cases where the property/assets of [our] fellow citizens or companies are affected by a foreign government, as Donald Trump has threatened, the Mexican government should proportionally expropriate assets and properties of foreigners from that country on our territory," the preliminary summary of the proposal said.
Senator Armando Rios Piter from the center-left Party of the Democratic Revolution will present the legislation next week in hopes of sending a message to Trump about his immigration policy.
"At a time like this, it's vital for us to understand why this relationship benefits both. We're neighbors, we're friends, we're partners," Piter said. "[Trump is] putting [that] at risk."

If Trump becomes President, Mexico will rue the day they threaten America. We have the economic ability to make Mexico another Venezuela.

Mexico is going to hit US with “severe penalties”? ROTFL. All Trump would have to do is make it illegal to send US dollars “home” to Mehico. No more trade and foreign aid. Adios amigos!
Place a crippling penalty for every Mecian citizen who comes over the border without being invited!
I guess if Trump gets elected, Mexico will no longer be our neighbor. What are they going to do, saw off the continent at the Rio Grande and float away?

I will agree that, yes, unfortunately we are “neighbors”. I’m pretty sure that most Americans who care about America wouldn’t agree that we are “friends” and “partners”. You might be “friends” and “partners” with the DNC but not with average Americans.
And that has not stopped mexico from building their southern border wall.
Mexico, go fuch yourself.
