At hospitals and doctors offices all over this country right now as a condition of Obamacare, people are asked if they smoke, if they say yes, they are asked whether they want information to help them stop smoking and if they want access to nicotine replacement. Those questions are documented in the permanent record as yeses or noes.

This info will be used to determine future health care services, mark my words.

So say you will take any help they have, so it can be documented. And if you are a minimal smoker, just a few a day, you will have to decide how you are going to answer these questions for yourself.

And that is why one lies to one’s doctor. Simple. I’ve been lying for years and am generally in very good health.

I was at the eye doctor this week and say checks for diabetes and smoking. I said I understood that some people don’t get diagnosed for diabetes until they come in for vision problems, but why the verification for smoking?
Apparently the eye doctors are told to report if the person has either condition to the health insurer now.

I always say no. Never had a doc question me about it once I say no. Better to lie then to die.
