Donald Trump stressed his push for increased patriotism in a speech to the American Legion this morning.
Specifically, he said that a shared goal of the Trump administration and the American Legion, a veterans' association, is "promoting American pride and patriotism in Americas schools."
"We want young Americans to recite the pledge of allegiance," Trump said.
"We will stop apologizing for America, and we will start celebrating America. We will be united by our common culture, values and principles -- becoming one American nation. One country, under one constitution, saluting one American flag. And always saluting it," he said.
This morning's speech in Cincinnati, Ohio, comes hours after Trump gave a long-awaited address on immigration in Arizona.
He reiterated several of his immigration proposals during this morning's speech, including greater screening for immigrants, a ban on accepting Syrian refugees and a stronger border defense.

One step at a time....
Keep on truckin Mr. Trump! You’re awesome and AMERICA is awesome!
Everybody find the YouTube video of Red Skelton’s “Pledge of Allegiance”, quickly, before Google tries to have it banned!!!!
About damned time!
The local news folks have a class saying the Pledge each school day....
Obviously you are a sore Cruzite who prefers the “Anointed” one (by his Cuban-Canadian father) and a Holy Roller atmosphere in a presidential election...not that there is anything wrong with the Holy Rollers. Trump is a PRESBYTERIAN and Presbyterians don’t go around spouting off or wearing God on their sleeves, but believe one’s good works speak for themselves. I have been a Presbyterian for over 75 years, taught Sunday School, etc. I frankly have a difficult time being pleasant to people like you. Crawl into your little hole of sanctimony and leave straightening out this country to people of good will. We don’t need you.
thank you for helping me keep it in perspective.
Yes, Christmas was celebrated each year in our schools with Christmas assemblies. In our communities with a Living Nativity. No matter how cold the evenings might be in Texas, the community came together to celebrate the birth of our Christ our King We were unashamed in participating in the celebration, and looked forward to doing so again the following year. To now look back and see how such traditions have been so changed, is heartbreaking. Not in our country! This cannot be!
amazing rant. Has nothing to do with me nor my comment.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
As opposed to the party that banned God from their convention. Find something else to complain about.
one thing has nothing to do with the other.
but thanks for playing.
Of course it did or you would have ignored it.
Your “points” are of no interest to me. Your comments are ridiculous and without substance. Try them on the weak minded.Maybe you’ll have some luck in the Hillery camp.
That didn’t go unnoticed by me either.
I applaud the push for patriotism, but I’ll have to let my tag line express it:
Class of 1956 :-)
what points ?
you mean the sarcasm I used, stolen from the movie Billy Madison?
Nice try.
Thanks for playing.
“America is screwed because “they” have had our kids seven hours a day, five days a week for 10 months of every year, for 12 years ! ! !”
Then wouldn’t one of the most important and patriotic thing to do is for the parents to homeschool?
If it’s true that ‘America is screwed...’, would you agree it’s high time parents lose the excuses and make the necessary adjustments?
I am totally and completely against the “Pledge”, i think they should pledge to the US Constitution.
Well also think of “48 Liberal Lies” which is an easier kid read.
Stolen sarcasm? Why don’t you try using your head for something but a hatrack?
