A game the Niners didn't play in? Or do you mean SB XLVII? A game the Smith didn't play in? Where they had the ball on 1st down on the 7 yard line, Kaepernick threw 4 passes and couldn't get it in for the win? Yeah, that's Alex Smith's fault.

Alex Smith lost the NFC championship to the Giants. The entire rest of the team beat the Giants, except for Ted Ginn. SB XLVI was the 49ers to lose.

Did you actually watch the Super Bowl against Baltimore. Kaep brought the team back in re3cord-setting fashion from a huge deficit. Then Greg Roman called the same play to Michael Crabtree for four plays! Unfortunately, the one run the called was a penalty on the offensive line. Greg Roman threw the game away.
