When you reward something, you get more of it. We had a "one-time" amnesty in 1986. The proponents said there would never be another one. This was it. At the time, the USG estimated one million would apply, but the true number turned out to be 2.7 million. There was a surge of illegal immigration once the law was discussed and passed despite the fact that you had to be here for five years to apply. We now have 11 to 30 million illegals here.
Once legalized, the lawbreakers could sponsor another 60 million of their relatives thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification. This figure came from the Heritage Foundation if there were only 12 million illegals.
How fair is it to allow the lawbreakers to get to the head of the line on immigration? They are allowed to stay and work here, the object of their crime, while over 4 million intending legal immigrants are waiting their turn overseas--some for many years. They have completed all the paperwork, background investigations, physicals, etc.
Attrition thru enforcement is the key. Sure there can be individual cases with special circumstances that can be addressed using the existing laws. It is done all the time. 60% of all green cards are issued to people already here thru a change of status.
Let's try enforcement first. Why the rush to legalize the lawbreakers, i,e., "work with them?" Hell, what happens if there are 30 million of them?

That's been a standard response. The claim, right out of the box, a day after Trump said "What have you got to lose?" was that this line was condescending and would cost Trump black support. Van Jones, Baktiari Sellers, Don Lemon ... straight down the line DEM response, especially by the blacks on the panels, but universally panned, Begala, Brianna Keilar, etc.
Wishful thinking, they aim to taint the challenge, but some people are going to take the question seriously.

No one knows and there have been some dramatic fluctuations.....some self-deportation after the 2008 crash when the economy tanked and there was little money to be made here. That self-deport number and then returns makes it impossible to know.
I travel to several metro areas annually (mostly in the south) and suspect the number of illegal immigrants is VASTLY underestimated.
Yeah, right. The MSM and the Dems would be all over this along with the courts. The issue would be the separation of families. How can you prevent the mother, children, and an aged parents from joining their newly legalized spouse. This is the same logic that believes that you can legalize them without a path to citizenship, i.e., create a second class of permanent residents. The courts would dismantle that in a minute while the Dems would make it a huge issue.

Securing the border solves part of the problem, but 40% of the illegals came here legally and overstayed their visas. We need more interior enforcement and a leveraging of state and local law enforcement with ICE to identify and deport the lawbreakers.
We also need to go after countries that refuse to take their nationals back. We have laws on the books that require us to stop issuing visas to nationals of countries that refuse to take their people back. We just don't enforce them.

Much of this can be done by enforcing the existing laws. Trump doesn’t need Congress to do this.
Chuck Todd’s ‘table’ calls for an open debate of ideas... of course Chuck’s table is four liberals to one conservative. Yeah, a real open exchange of ideas... as long as the bullies run the game - four to one.

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

As for Muslims:..... Any Muslim who espouses support for Sharia Law , would definitely meet this definition, and since they all secretly support Sharia, it’s an undeniable stain on all of islam.
