Hindu Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard Called 'Devil' Shamelessly By A Republican Opponent. Hindu Reactions Surfaced.
HENB, Washington, Aug 25, 2016: Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu member in House of Representative (for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district since 2013) contesting again to the US Congress, has been targeted for her Hindu faith by her Republican opponent in the Congressional elections, prompting sharp reactions from the Hindu-American community members.
35-year-old Democratic Representative Gabbard is seeking her third-term re-election from Hawaii against Republican candidate Angela Kaaihue.
Kaaihue last week described support to her as "worship (ping) the devil" and called the Democratic Party the "Devil Democratic State."
"Some Christians say, a vote for Tulsi Gabbard is a vote for Satan, the devil do you agree or disagree?" Kaaihue alleged in a Facebook post, which has now been deleted.
This infuriated the Hindu-American community. The Hawaii Republican Party in a statement urged party members to disavow Kaaihue for her attacking Gabbard for her religion and faith.
The chairman of Kaaihue's party also condemned the attack, calling it "vulgar" and "religiously intolerant".
"Her vulgar, racially bigoted, and religiously intolerant descriptions of Democratic Party candidates are offensive, shameful and unacceptable in public discourse," said Fritz Rohlfing, chairman of the Hawaii Republican Party.
Tulsi Gabbard, a sympathizer of many Hindu organizations and Bharatiya Janata Party and its nationalist leader, Narendra Modi, was one of the first two female combat veterans to be elected to U.S. Congress.
Tulsi was among the first few to criticise the U.S. government's decision to deny a visa to Modi before he was elected prime minister of India. Gabbard had called the decision a "great blunder" for US politics and building relationship with foreign states.
Even after being ridiculed and abused by a Radical Christian politician from her opponents, Tulsi is spreading a message of peace and religious tolerance with a full faith in Hindu roots and Bharatiya Sanskara (Indian Cultural Link). Here is a great message on building peace and harmony from Tulsi Gabbard on the occasion of Holy Janmashtami.
Upananda Brahmachari, Chairman of Hindu Existence Forum and the Editor, Hindu Existence website vehemently opposed the ill mentality (Hinduphobia) and religious intolerance expressed by Republican candidate Angela Kaaihue and wished a solidarity for the success of the Democratic candidate Tulsi Gabbard with an emphatic win.

And an election is no place for revivalists
Jimmy Carter was a good Christian Obozo beat the Mormon.
Oh how lucky we afe
“From what I’ve seen and read of so called Christians, maybe they should embrace Hinduism.........”
I don’t think even you believe that. After more than 2,000 years of Hinduism, India was a backward shithole with a diabolical caste system, massive abusive, and stultifying fatalism. After just two centuries of rule under Anglicans, India was close to ready to taking a seat among the modern nations of the world. There still work to be done - because India is still a largely fatalistic toilet. Literally. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/india-is-building-millions-of-toilets-but-toilet-training-could-be-a-bigger-task/2015/06/03/09d1aa9e-095a-11e5-a7ad-b430fc1d3f5c_story.html
Ask yourself why Japan uses a version of Roman law. Ask yourself why China was never a success in modern times until it started to shape itself according to Western ideals. The answer is simple: The West was shaped by Christianity.
Christians invented modern hospitals, modern universities, modern economies, almost all of our modern technology is from them of people shaped by them.
That has nothing to do with their religion
Oh you bet that was the argument used by dems to vote for jimmy Carter a good Christian man against Ronald Reagan who was a divorced man and an actor
Because it loses elections
But I guess there are those who would rather be pure rather than actually govern
Ask Ted how well that works
More like ignorant, or worse, deliberately lying to appeal to the ignorance of others.
So far, Hindus arent the problem. I live in an area of the country that has the largest population of them. Theyre entirely peace-loving people. Cheap, maybe, but peace-loving.
That is my understanding as well. I am not aware of large numbers of them shouting "Shiva Ackbar!" before blowing themselves and others, up.
I am not aware of anything in their religion or religious books that specifically urges them to commit violence against believers of other religions.
Unlike the Muslims.
Yes, I get that most of the Muslims in the world are peaceful. It's just that ever so often, the literalist comes along and the moderates stand around watching him instead of stopping him.
So long as those violent admonitions are part of their religious doctrine, it is always going to be a case of waiting for the shoe to drop.
And that has nothing to do with elections
All you constitutionalist a seem to forget that when it comes to religious tests
I do think people here take pot shots at Hinduism all the time, never considering that their words demean almost 20% of the world’s population.
Hindus in India have many of the same problems with muslins and liberals that we have here, blowing up things, and wanting to secularize everything, sanitize religious symbols etc.
I know in India, Hindus have created messes - generally against Muslims. I wonder why? Here, my next door neighbor is a Hindu, and she’s really nice. Interestingly, my last neighbor was a Berber Muslim and he was extremely nice as well. So we have good and bad people living amongst us. But that doesn’t mean I like Muslims from Arab countries! In fact, I despise them. As did my Berber pal.
I collect Hindu gods because they are pretty and interesting. Shiva in a wheel of fire is quite intriguing, isn’t he? And I have Ganusha on my writing stand.
One way I look at it is, the Christian church is alive and well in India. I think India has true religious freedom, and when you have true religious freedom, you have to tolerate a lot of crazy cults. The most theologically advanced and the most backward and superstitious nation on earth, all at the same time.
Hinduism does not exactly have a satan. Their idea is that what has been created must always eventually be destroyed. What rises must eventually fall. So, the destroyer is not exactly evil, it is performing a function.
It’s the struggle for Hindu existence./s
India had been ruled by Muslims for at least 200 years before the Anglicans got there. They invited the British in to get rid of the muslims.
No I don't. But don't forget, so called Christians gave us Robert Tilton, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Oral Roberts, Fred Phelps and the list goes on to include all the Catholic pedophile priests............
So before you cast judgment on Hinduism, look at your own religion and the blatant hypocrisy of its so called leaders............
Hindus do worship the Devil and thousands of his demons.
“And that has nothing to do with elections”
I never said it did. Why are you pretending I did?
“All you constitutionalist a seem to forget that when it comes to religious tests”
I forgot nothing. I am not talking about a religious test. The world would be better off if Hinduism disappeared and was entirely replaced with Christianity. That has nothing to do with a religious test. Maybe you need more work with Hooked on Phonics to read what is actually posted rather than draw exactly the wrong conclusion as you’re doing.
Gabbard is not the devil. She is a liberal Democrat who supports murdering children, socialism, gay marriage, and a number of other moral evils. She’s still not the devil. She just happens to support many of the same things he does.
“India had been ruled by Muslims for at least 200 years before the Anglicans got there. They invited the British in to get rid of the muslims.”
And the English did more for India than any Mughal regime ever did.
Then all the blather in light of this thread being about an ELECTION is meaningless
“No I don’t. But don’t forget, so called Christians gave us Robert Tilton, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Oral Roberts, Fred Phelps and the list goes on to include all the Catholic pedophile priests............”
And all have come and gone or will go soon. None of those things are byproducts of Christianity itself. The “untouchables” as a class, however, that whole monstrous idea is a byproduct of Hinduism. Equality is a byproduct of Christianity. This is why what is happening in Orissa is happening at all. You know all about that, right?
“So before you cast judgment on Hinduism, look at your own religion and the blatant hypocrisy of its so called leaders............”
My own religion is excellent - but not all the practitioners are. My religion gave us hospitals, universities, helped establish much of modern medicine, inspired much of modern law, much of world class art, literature, music. Hinduism also produced some fine art and architecture, and yoga, and the caste system, and grinding fatalism, and massive poverty, and sustained illiteracy, and so on. Not a single nation in the world - NOT ONE - has adopted anything as part of its official governance, education, commerce, legal system, medical practices that was produced or inspired by Hinduism in the last 1,000 years. Not one. Yoga has been adopted by many people. And is won’t solve a single real problem in the world no matter what it’s loony tune practitioners claim: https://www.facebook.com/notes/john-muthukat/yoga-the-one-stop-solution-to-almost-all-problems-in-the-world/10204176044823437/
India is a toilet. Literally: http://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2014/10/08/why-many-indians-cant-stand-to-use-the-toilet/ The world’s only Hindu nation also happens to be the only nation with that problem. That’s not a coincidence.
