“To liberals, it’s forever 1964 in Mississippi, the Klan is 20 million strong and stringing black men from trees everyday.”
When I moved to CA in the 80s, a black female coworker took note of my Southern roots and drawl, and sneeringly dubbed me “Scarlet.”
She ranted endlessly about “rednecks” and “white women from the south” who supposedly think this and do that.
When she started yammering about the ubiquitous Klan, I pointed out that the first time I’d ever seen the Klan was after I moved to California and started watching “documentaries” about the South on Public Television.
