Today's initial thread has dropped from BREAKING NEWS so I'm using this rare opportunity to hopefully make more of y'all aware of the importance of Donating Monthly!

I donate in 2 payments per year very close to the amount that $10.00 a month would bring.

Why is monthly better?

On an individual basis like that, it’s hard to see a difference. But, in general, the larger the Monthly total, the quicker the fundraiser.

For example, if we could get our Monthly figure over $15,000 then they would represent $45,000 total for the quarter. That’s over half of our goal.

If my math is correct, with $15,000 in Monthlies, we could possibly be ending our fundraisers in under 30-40 days every quarter.

If we have a new fundraiser starting with a goal of $88,000 and it gets to about $30,000 (in three weeks or so) we could accrue the $45,000 in Monthlies and our new total would be $75,000 and there’d be only about $13,000 left to go.

With a big push we could probably raise that in a week to ten days and we’re done.

In other words, at $15,000 per month in Monthlies, our fundraisers would complete in half the time they take now.

If we could get to $20,000 per month in Monthlies they’d probably take less than three weeks to complete.

*If we could get to $30,000 per month in reliable Monthlies, we wouldn’t need fundraisers at all.

Currently, we have about 630 Monthlies totaling approx $11,000 per month or about $17.50 per monthly donation.

To get to $15,000 in Monthlies we’d need to keep those we have and add about 225 New Monthly Donors at about the same average.

A lofty goal, but doable.

OK, this is what I come up with from the totals at the bottom of the Q3 Scoreboard. Looks like the $88K goal has already been met. Hard to figure out the $56,699 showing on the Fundraising Header. What am I missing?

642 = # of Monthly Donors
$17.76 = Monthly - AVG
$11,404.84 = Monthly - Total for One Month

$34,211.52 = Monthly - Total for Q3 (extrapolated)
$55,909.24 = One-time Donor Total for Q3
$90,120.76 = Total for Q3

The $56,699.24 amount on the scoreboard is the amount we’ve actually received quarter-to-date and that includes one-time donations plus the monthlies that have already come in (about two-thirds of the total monthlies are already in). We process the monthlies about once per week during the quarter. You can see the batches of monthlies posted each week on the freepathon thread. We’re getting real close to the point where we will accrue the balance of the monthlies that will come in later (approx $12,000). After accruing the balance of the monthlies we should have something less than $19k to go. That should happen later today or tomorrow.

Since “Monthlies” has its own separate column, maybe “Receipts including Monthies” header might make that column clearer.

BTW, the total in the “Receipt” column in the Scoreboard shows $55,909.25 vs. $56,699.24 on the Fundraiser header. Minor discrepancy maybe because of a timing issue either on updating the the header or the scorecard.

Guess I was looking at Onyx’s post from yesterday.

Looks good and I didn’t see that explanation on the left column (still think it might be a good idea to add “(includes monthlies to-date)” to the “Receipt “ header).

Anyway, just kicking the tires. Nice to have someone do that once in a while and I’m always full of good ideas. (I wish I was right and you actually were at $90K.)
