While that would be an enormous disappointment and no doubt would cost him votes and contributions, he still would be better than Hillary.

I am hoping he will not change on this issue. And those who say the illegal cannot be deported, that it is too expensive are wrong. Poland, for example deported 16 million Germans, many of whom had lived there for generations. There are many ways of doing it.

It is absolutely amazing how many people have such a tenuous hold on their beliefs that they will accept almost anything that is said.

Absolutely. Very sad to see.

Trump will not benefit by softening his stance on immigration, because taking a strong line on this was his signature issue.

Those who want open borders and amnesty won't vote for Trump even if he does a 180 degree about-turn, because they can get these policies from Hillary, and in any case such an about-face won't seem sincere. All that a politically correct softening on immigration and the national question would accomplish is to diminish turnout and enthusiasm among the people who are already Trump supporters.

It’s hand wringing, day 2.

Yesterday I was in bucket brigade mode saying basically what you just did.

Folks don’t read or listen to the whole article. Just read headlines and excerpts.

People only what they want to hear it seems. Trump has not wavered, the wall is getting built, illegals will be vetted, and law & order will prevail. Make America great again!

So true, or what they hear as sound bites from the MSM or even conservative sites who want viewer/listener stats so they put out the bait, and then thats what is remembered instead of the full context of what he says as you have listed above

More liberal?

He is NOT an open borders globalist
He is strongly pro 2a
He wants to cut taxes across the board
He wants to cut/kill bureaucracies that hurt business
He wants Constitutional justices

That’s conservative enough for me

I don’t see how the RNC is influencing Trump. He has not wavered on his “enforce the law” mode.

The treason media lies daily.

Rush talks about Trump supporters not being bothered. The problem with that is there are not enough Trump supporters; Trump has to depend on voters who decide at the last minute and if he is ready to pull back on immigration, it will suppress voter turnout. Trump has to calculate if those voters will be replaced by people who do not really care if their country is turned over to third worlders.

I don’t personally think Trump is retrenching, but is learning how to play the political game. I just hope he is not overplaying it.

I personally will vote Trump no matter how pissed I am at him. But with a long long history in politics in my former active life and degrees in psychology and law I know how others tend to think. They lose hope and energy if Donald softens. It will take root and spread.

“Listen to Trump.. don’t listen to the media!!!”

I keep trying remind people; the average voter will listen to the media.

If they weren’t listening, it would be reflected in the polls to Trump’s benefit.

The election is still, as elections go, distant.

He needs to breathe deeply into a paper bag

Trump is getting intel briefings now and getting advice in how to really really set up the support and programs he going to need to govern this country the way his instincts have led him to this point

We have to expect him to refine his views and goals as he gets educated and exposed to the big picture

What did people expect? FEMA camps for 20 million illegals waiting to be deported?

Every yuge move by a CEO requires deliberate planning and prioritizing. Protect the borders. Stop the bad guys. Sift through the people here and find the bad guys. Get rid of them. Then go from there and the next steps. Maybe end welfare and other fraud committed by illegals. They are in the next tier of bad people.

What DO you do with millions and millions of illegals who have established lives here for many years, who work and have families? Not the same treatment as the tier one and tier 2 bad guys

You think Hillary is gonna do any of that?

At the core of human values, patriotism, love of country over self, and competency - who do you want for President: Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump?

What are going to do vote for Hillary? Yeah, that’s funny.

Yeah.

Vote for Trump. At least he's not Hillary.

Vote for Romney. At least he's not 0bama.

Vote for McCain. At least he's not 0bama.

Vote for Bush. At least he's not Kerry.

Vote for Bush. At least he's not Gore.

Etc.

What the hell? I thought we were supposed to have a candidate we could actually vote FOR this time.

Well? Have we? Or are we back to the same old "hold your nose and vote for the Republican, because the democrat is complete filth?"

don’t see how the RNC is influencing Trump. He has not wavered on his “enforce the law” mode.

He's saying things about the "11" million already here that go far beyond "enforce the law". Enforcing the law would involve deporting all that couldn't make a legitimate refugee claim.

And what did he mean when he said they' have to pay back taxes? That's purely an RNC position and part of their amnesty scheme.

I'm been a Trump supporter for years, going back to 2011, and still am, but I'm not going to kid myself that he hasn't, using his own words, "softened" his position on immigration and it will cost him some support if he sticks with it. And it will gain him little or no support.

Sorry I don’t agree..remember the 2nd admendment. Let’s all calm down and listen to his details before we go off and become bitter. I did not hear where he will let them all stay. I trust Trump and his advisors. You just have to know Sessions is in on this.

An amnesty deal will be made.

Cheap labor Republicans want amnesty.

Anything for a vote Democrats want amnesty.

We need to get permanent tax caps and the end of birthright citizenship by Constitutional amendments in exchange.

Trump will never secure the border as long as there are bulldozers or ladders in Mexico.

The leftist Canadian Prime Minster has promised to allow Mexicans to fly to Canada, where they can easily get across the insecure US/Canadian border.
