Frankly, Rio is so last Sunday. It is over and done with and the mess is now theirs to deal with and no one but die-hard elite idolizers give a crap about it.
‘elite idolizers’
We used to call people who worked hard and rose to the top of their field “exceptional,”—in this case, an ‘exceptional American.’
Leftists have taken over now, though, and personal accomplishment is frowned upon. What about all those participants who didn’t win a gold medal? How do you think they feel?
Better to give everyone who makes it to the Olympics a ‘participation trophy,’ and do away with medals altogether. That would certainly solve your ‘elitist,’ problem, wouldn’t it?
Isn’t Rio an object lesson on where the USA could head?
The Olympics brought it into recent highlight; that doesn’t mean the Olympics are the only reason it deserves to be looked at.
We are right to be suspicious of the motives of those who do not want to learn from ALL the lessons of history.
