how did we know they were not going to drive an explosive -laden boat into the destroyer. How could they allow that proximity?

Agreed.

Those aren’t ships. They’re freakin PT Boats.
And there isn’t much more than 15 words to this story. Skeptical.

I'd vote for my own toes and all four of my cats before I would vote for the Chicago Nightmare.
This flouncing Barky needs to realize that he can't run for elective office in this country ever again.
My husband and I had his number from Day 1, and we knew that he had, as he said, his "Muslim faith."
And you're exactly right, smart HarleyLady27. He is the most disgusting id10t on Earth and beyond!

I watched the video, absolutely laughable. The Iranians are freaking delusional.

I wonder at what distance they would be stopped.

And the old jokes...What do you get when you cross an American destroyer with an Iranian gunboat?

Those Iranian sailor must get paid really well.
They almost got dead.
Actually obliterated.
CIWS can cut another full-sized ship in half. Imagine what it does to a speed boat.

My dad arrived there when they were worried they'd be overrun (July '50).
He was US Army with the 29th Infantry Regiment and later survived the Hadong Ambush.
He celebrated his 18th birthday in Pyongyang.
I still have the letter he wrote to my grandma on waxed paper on his birthday.

Here's the letter excerpt:
"Dear Mom and Dad
I finally got around to writing you a letter. I would have wrote sooner but I didn't have a chance. I have been very busy the past month and there was no place to mail the letter. I have been in Korea (first notice my grandparents received he was in Korea) the past month but I am OK. Our unit was hit pretty bad and there is only 400 of us left."
Before they entered the Hadong pass, there were 925 of them.

I have my copy of the Des Moines Register down in the basement from the day Reagan was inaugurated.
Two front line headlines were “Reagan Inaugurated” and “Hostages Released”.
The Iranians knew a serious ass kicking was coming if they still held hostages under Reagan’s watch.
Why is the concept of having overwhelming force to deter your enemies so not understood by so many in this nation?
