My guess is that with very little planning, every sub, every frigate and above could and should be scuttled within a few hours. The balance could be scuttled over the next few days.

Iran wants to be seen as the powerful tough guy on the Middle Eastern block... by teasing this US destroyer......they know during a Presidential transfer of power the outgoing President won’t do a thing. So they strut their stuff.
