...All of this is little comfort to McGrath, who chafes at the thought of the Postal Service helping Chinese merchants poach his customers. All of us sellers are selling a lot of Chinese goods in America but at least were creating jobs, making money, and adding to the economy, he said. But when people buy direct from China thats adding nothing to the American economy.

Excellent info.!
But as for authoritative, what I was asking for was an article (link) from a trustworthy source documenting that China subsidizes the shipping on their end, too.
As for what to do, contact auctionbytes blog at ecommercebytes.com, have them ask the campaign the questions, they’ll most likely get a response (and probably picked up by other media.) They’re extremely responsive.
Oh, there are plenty of articles, but none specific to this, that I’ve seen.
How does one try to bring up the issue / question (will Trump use / address this?) in a visible way, when no articles asking that question exist? Again, you tell me, you super helpful and encouraging (for me to even be spending my incredibly tight time on this forum) person.
BTW, this is not a PERSONAL gripe about eBay. I’ve only sold one (very unique) item on eBay, ever, and I’ve never sold anything on Amazon. I did once upon a time have an independent website I did do some selling on, including overseas sales. But, no more...
Ah, now that’s actually helpful and responding to the original question!
Thanks!
BTW, does this require signing up, getting more junk e-mail, etc? I’m not opposed to doing it, just gotta somehow find the time (including for deleting more junk e-mail that gets through, if involved.)
Now, I do think the more people [Freepers] who might ask the question / spread it around, the better. But again, thanks! Yours is the kind of response I was hoping to elicit, if Trump staff themselves do not monitor FR. :-)
I pay a Canadian on-line pharmacy about 1/10th the price American pharmacies charge for prescription drugs.
US big pharma can KMA.
Do you know what ecommercebytes.com policy is regarding e-mail addresses they receive? (I took a look at their website: As is often the case, I have to submit an e-mail address to contact them. But I see nothing stating their policy on e-mail addresses received.)
Thanks!
I sincerely doubt you'll be signing up for junk mail.
Well boo hoo! I am supposed to pay his middleman markup ecause it creates job? That is rubbish. Let’s see its ok for him to buy direct but not me. I have an idea lets require thus guy to also buy through a middleman. See, anothe job created. Heck then we can require that go to buy through a middleman...etc until everyone has a job.
In reality what I dont give to him I keep and spend somewhere else.
His argument has the same flaw as the broken wind fallacy.
I know where you shop. LOL!
No one in this article is crying about “direct” competition on eBay or Amazon. What’s at issue (originally) is that USPS effectively subsidizes those Chinese sellers such that they can offer free or much reduced cost shipping. Then, if you or I want to send something overseas, via USPS, we get dinged hard, to pay for the e-packet program.
The middleman markup (from responsible sellers) does provide service: A US address to send returns to, much easier communication between customer and seller, etc. Whether one chooses it is up to them.
When you look at it, buying in bulk and reselling should be viable / competitive, but the USPS policy of robbing Peter to pay Paul (so to speak) makes it pretty rough on Peter. Are you saying you are in favor of such policies?
Drat, I was afraid of this. With the original title imposed, my original question fades away... Mods, should I repost as a vanity?
I really hate agreeing with you but I do. Why should I buy the exact pair of boots here when I can get them directly from China for a third of the price including shipping? Just remember “buy one size up.” LOL!
I actually DID find a direct e-mail address for media, but hesitate to “misuse” that...
Anyway, thanks for the info.! I might try writing (to the form) and at the end requesting that they not add me to any e-mail lists or distribute my e-mail address.
Oh, you never ever send stuff back to China. Once I heard another woman say, “I buy from X, you get great deals on about 75% of the things you buy. The rest goes to Goodwill.” You still get the bargains.
See my question in post # 32...
Cool!
Truthfully, about 25% of the items I get from China aren’t worth anything, and thankfully, all have been refunded. I did feel bad for one vendor, the item didn’t arrive for weeks and in the end, I filed a claim after no response from the seller. The day after I was refunded, it arrived, and of course, no response from the seller when I tried to contact them to repay for the item.
Considering how eBay works, I don’t blame them in the slightest. If they never respond, I can’t grade them on communication, and so long as they keep at least two metrics above 4 stars, they will continue on eBay. (Metrics are shipping rates (free shipping automatically gets 5 stars), communication can only be graded if they respond, so there’s a second automatic 5 stars if they never respond... shipping time (automatic 5 stars if they have tracking information in 24 hours), and item as described (the only metric which can’t be flubbed.))
