About Mallards Mallards, found on every continent except Antarctica, were one of the first domesticated birds. (White farm ducks, or “Pekin Ducks,” are Mallards.) They eat a wide variety of foods and can survive even extremely severe winters where open water and food are available. They spend most of the year in flocks that may include other species of ducks.
