Appearing on Foxs OReilly Factor, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump didnt get the deferential treatment he has come to expect when he makes his almost nightly visit to Sean Hannitys show, as host Bill OReilly tried to rein him Monday night when he started talking about policing policies.
Discussing crime rates in Chicago a favorite of target for conservatives Trump went on to say that he thinks cops are handling suspects with kid gloves and that they need to be able to clamp down on suspects.
I know police in Chicago, Trump began. If they were given the authority to do it, they would get it done.
How? OReilly asked.
How? By being very much tougher than they are right now, Trump asserted. Theyre right now not tough. I could tell you this very long and quite boring story, but when I was in Chicago, I got to meet a couple of very top police. I said, How do you stop this?'
According to Trump, one of his unnamed top Chicago cops told him, Mr. Trump, Id be able to stop it in one week, with Trump saying the cops want to use undefined tough police tactics.
OReilly jumped in by telling Trump, You need a warrant to arrest people. You cant beat them up ! You have to have a warrant to arrest them! You have to only to be cut off by Trump who wasnt interested in going into details.
All I know is this, Trump blustered. I went to a top police officer in Chicago, who is not the police chief, and I could see by the way he was dealing with his people, he was a rough, tough guy, they respected him greatly.
Trump then repeated the same story over again about tough tactics, only to have OReilly ask: But he didnt tell exactly precisely how?
No, Trump replied as if the case was closed. Because Im not the mayor of Chicago.
Disagree. We’ll skip BOR’s grandstanding in the future.
Someone should ask O’Gasbag on the air about his sexual harassment of Andrea Tantaros. According to her lawsuit, he asked her to spend the weekend alone with him at his place on Long Island.
Trump respects O’Reilly.
ok, I watched the video and this is what I came away with:
on immigration:
O’Reilly: Immigration laws haven’t been enforced since Reagan, everybody knows that
Trump: Under existing laws, they will now
on crime:
O’Reilly: Police have had to back off, they can’t get tough
Trump: Under existing laws, they will now
works for me
Just him and his loofah collection.
I think Bill OReally’s most serious issue is that he’s a legend in his own mind.
Sorry, Bill. You don't need a warrant to arrest someone. If that were the case, judges would be tied up 24/7 issuing warrants. You think the police can't arrest someone robbing a liquor store without getting a warrant first ?
I am with you, Duterte sounds like a man I could support. My Father was a lifelong Democrat. He was no bigot, and never abused anyone that I ever saw. When the Chicago riots, the Watts riots, even the tipping over of cars in Seattle in the 60’s happened he had one response. “Turn off the cameras, chase the reporters out of the area, and kick some ass”. When I gave him the BS “Peace love and joy” speech common at the time he continued. “This is America, we are not going to kill everyone and we are not going to open death camps, but BY GOD WE WOULD HAVE ORDER.” My 60 something self now says, RIGHT ON.
Sounds reasoned to me.
Good point. BOR gets it wrong more than he should. If he doesn’t know, he should make his assertions more tentative than he does. He makes conclusory assertions that are flat out wrong and then calls his show “The No Spin Zone.” Kinda makes you dizzy.
It sure is working in the Philippines ....1700 dead druggies and assorted criminals in 2 months.
Rest assured the GA militia is alive and sell.
Rest assured the GA militia is also alive and well. :-)
1700 dead druggies and assorted criminals in 2 months is really a non-sequitur here. That is what the Leftist would argue to support their reign of terror.
We’re talking about a constitutional republic under the rule of law which includes verifiable PROBABLE CAUSE for arrest followed by constitutional protections for the accused and procedures the state must follow.
We’re talking about a President who has thrown off constitutional restraint and done his best to incite discord and violence against law and order and a peaceful society across our country.
Figured that’s what you meant.
I have mistrusted BOR ever since I first saw his ugly Irish mug on TV. And his “who Killed” book series is mostly hogwash, especially his rubber stamp of the universally discredited Warren Commission Report.
I don’t “all or nothing” BOR, but it got to the point where I could no longer watch him on a regular basis. He’s got good qualities and not-so -good, like all of us. I guess what rankles me is the superior “No Spin Zone” moniker that somehow he is above the fray and sees things rightly whereas others don’t.
I never read any of the “Killing” books but I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the “Legends and Lies - the Revolutionary War” book that went along with the TV series. Seemed pretty accurate and informative. If you like American history, you might like it. It actually is written by someone else, not BOR, but I think BOR collaborated and sponsored the whole effort. A good effort I thought. I learned a lot. A lot of fun.
I understand that he’s coming out next year with a “Legends and Lies - the Civil War”. which I anticipate should be good.
Give it a try, see what you think.
Thanks for your interesting and informative response to my post. I will take a look at the Legends and Lies book re the RW, and I’ll be watching for his new one on the CW. I rarely watch TV and I’ve only seen a handful of BOR’s shows, so perhaps I am more critical of him than is warranted.
Well, good for you. It’s nice to see someone who is teachable. My boss used to say of those of us who were teachable, “They’re programmable.”
Hey, BTW, check out my new website that is not yet done (there’s only one thing on it right now) but I hope will be ready soon as an informative and interesting site. Someone created it for me for free because he like my posts on FR. What a nice guy.
