Have to say, i got severely burned for a speeding ticket some years back in NC. The trooper was professional - and I was totally guilty. Paid the fine over the internet the following day. Bought an Escort (radar detector) after paying my fine.Expensive lesson.

Should have hired an attorney in the jurisdiction where the ticket occurred to represent you in court, get the ticket reduced to a nonmoving violation. That’s not cheap either, but it’s cheaper long term than allowing the points to hit your insurance.

The dumbest, worst speeding ticket I ever received was given to me by an NC State Trooper. I still remember his name, could read it in the dark from the streetlight reflecting. Suffice it to say, I had pulled out to pass on one of those interminably long, straight, flat stretches of road in the middle of nowhere on the way to the beach, was driving a fairly new car and had never wound it out. Even had a radar detector, which gave me false confidence. I was going over 100 when it just blared, it didn’t build up like usual. Instant on radar, new at the time. I stood on the brakes. Officer said he could arrest me and impound my car, but was going to let me be on my way, with a ticket for the speed at which he clocked me, 91. That was an expensive one. Kept my license, but restricted.
